I believe I have a loose connection to the temp gauge. It will move from the 1/4 position to the 1/2 position and down to the 1/4 and back to the half. There is not an issue with coolant or with the fan. The fan still goes on and off.
I had the windshield off and the cover under it to change out the running lights. I might have pulled a connector loose in the process. Just trying to find out what color wire or wires goes to the temp gauge. This up and down started after changing out the running lights.
Thanks

Check the sensor itself located on the engine. The rubber boot that fits on the sensor spike, becomes loose. Take a pair of pliers and pinch the boot while it is off of the sensor.
Now here is a stupid question. Is it a fast fluctuation or is it slow. If it is slow, than that's a normal reaction as it reacts to the cooling of the fan. If it's fast, then a loose connection at the sensor.

I learned no stupid questions. It is slow to fluctuate, but it only does it between the 1/4 mark and 1/2 mark. I checked the wires going to the temp gauge and they are screwed on and tight. This is new as it always slowly heated up and just passed the half way mark the fan would come on. I'll check out the boot tomorrow.
