Congratulations on your maiden voyage. Sounds likes the scoot is running good.
Since it's a good idea to set the valves as part of a PDI, I would set the valves as soon as possible. This will avoid being stranded out on the road. The second adjust is usually done at about 1 or 2 thousand miles after the parts wear in.

Cruiser is right, the valves are often tight from the factory. I recommend doing them again at 700 miles, then at 1500 and 2500..etc after that usually every 1500 miles...

On My 50cc I adjusted the valves at 500km. Then checked again at 1000km. The engine should be broken in at that point and every 1.5/ 2k after that. A larger displacement may have different rules though. Just my opinion. If it gets hard to start check the valve clearance and battery.

I think you are right Bong...it doesn't matter a whole lot when they are adjusted on most engines, it is just something you have to do every so often.
Tight valves is one of the biggest trouble makers on these scooters.
Mind you all the early Hondas needed the same thing... it is just the aluminum they use for the heads is not some exotic alloy and the valves tend to push into the soft metal...closing the gap...
