Well since we got our first 80 degree dry day yesterday, I took out the scoot. Me and my 11 yr. old daughter went for a nice ride and visited her Grandpa. I noticed that the bike shudders from takeoff then clears up. I did some reading this morning and see that the issue seems to be in the CVT and appears that I have rollers that have either developed flat spots or are stuck. I have also read that sliders will improve performance and last longer. I have NOT taken a CVT apart yet and it should not be a problem. Does this sound reasonable that the weights are the problem? What should I replace them with if the rollers are bad?

It sounds like that you might have stale gas from sitting the long winter. Before you tare your CVT apart, run the tank low and fill with fresh gas. Add the preferred seafoam or other gas additive that would clean the carb. After the second tank and still have a problem, then look into the CVT.
Always look at the simple things first.

Mthomas, It is actually acting more as though the Clutch is slipping, the pads may be glazed and not really grabbing until more rpms are applied. Take the bell off and clean out the bell and get a little fine sandpaper and just go over the pads a little to take some of the glaze off and clean inside the bell. Also push out each pad and put a little bit of litium grease were it slides in and out. Alleyoop

At times I shudder when thinking too ;D Does it sound like metal on metal grinding/scrapping or clicking? I hope you have ridden the scoot before an 80 degree day which would eliminate old gas IMO. Strange noises are nothing to ignore in the CVT cover but, I would think flat spots are a gradual loss in performance. You may wanna replace the stock rollers with sliders anyway but, I assume the shutter is the main issue. I would think something is slipping also from the description. Belt, Clutch etc.. Hopefully no over heating problems!!!!

So far, no overheating issues. I just fiiled the tank before my ride and the carb was cleaned thoroughly before I ever started riding the scoot. There are no noises coming from the CVT. It just shudders when you take off.

I think Alleyoop nailed it. Shure sounds like a clutch problem. Sometimes they come out or it on there own but follow his directions if it don't . I did work on a 150 trike where the clutch was so bad (out of round) that I had to replace it.

Fixed. Took off the CVT cover today just to see if I can see anything. Well the rubber trim piece folded under when I changed th CVT fluid. It was all worn so the belt was rubbing the rubber tri piece and caused the shudder. Done
