Changing Gear Oil By kountryguy (Read 930 times)

Just got a new RK 150 Type70 scooter and have been advised to change the gear oil. I went to drain the existing oil and I do not see a low point drain plug. I then went to the poorly written owners manual, and it shows that you are to drain and fill at the same place! How can I do this? My old scooter has a drain plug and a fill hole-easy. Any help will be appreciated.

• Ride the scooter for about 10 minutes to warm up the fluids.
• Remove the fill plug
  
• Remove the drain plug
  
• Drain the oil into a catch pan until it stops completely
  
• Make sure the drain plug is clean and replace but do not over tighten, it can strip.
• Fill with 80W-90 conventional, some prefer synthetic
  
• Use the tapered end of the gear oil container to slowly push oil into the fill hole until oil starts to dribble out
  
• Wait until it stops and replace the cleaned fill plug and washer; do not over tighten

Thanks, mine is not as obvious as the one in the pic. I ended up having to pull a bolt that looks like the one to the left of your drain plug in the pic. Thanks, got er done!

My response was a cut & paste from a post in the tech section and Kountryguy is exactly right, many scooters are now different from this. When I originally posted this in the library there wasn't that much variation as there is now; I need to update that post. So be aware folks, your scooter may vary! I had to fiddle around with my own CF Moto a until I figured out where the drain and fill was. Rich
