Hell, if it's as common a problem as all that, it might be worth it to have your shop make afew and sell them on here.
I didn't notice any damage on the hub splines when I had em apart to tighten the castle nuts. I wouldn't know whom to email to get a new axle sent.

Ok so I"m off today. I just need to pull the hubs off and look at the splines in the hub for being rounded?

Skytex, If they are NOT rounded, the shattrering could just be your Clutch Slipping. If it shatters when you first take off and then does not shatter after a few minutes of running and then stopping THEN it just your Clutch Slipping when COLD on the Bell when cold. Alleyoop

I got mine apart today splines aren't rounded off but the hub is sloppy loose on the axle. tightened the crown nut some more. I'm gonna have new hubs made with tighter tolerance.

Trike was made 2010/04/03 by the plate on the side so I'm guessing April 3rd 2010?

I don't see any rounding on the hub splines. ugh.... ok Alley, the clutch slipping.... what can I do about that? Oh and it will do it after it's warmed up too. It was doing it after I rode it about 20 minutes going to the gym so I'm sure it was warmed up.

If its the Clutch that is slipping the only thing you can try is take it off and see if the pads are Glazed if they are you can rough them up if there is plenty of pad left on all three arms if they are worn down then you can get just the Clutch part and not the whole assembley(Pulley and Bell). there is plenty of pad left... I don't think they are glazed myself. they are smooth, but not glassy.

How many washers do you have behind the Castle Nut to keep the hub on tight. What I did is take the hub off and clip and got a socket just big enough to fit around the OUTSIDE of the Bearing and then tapped it back until it hits the inner stop of the Axle Tube. Don't forget the other end of the Axle has cut out that tighten on the KEY inside the Spider Gear Sleeve. Don't know how far your axle has come out but it may be actually slipping on the KEY of the Spider Gear Sleeve. If the Hub has a lot of wobble I suspect your Splines inside the hub are worn down and slipping on the axle splines itself. Alleyoop

You'll have to click on the picture to watch the video :/ OK, here is the only play in my hubs. same for both sides. the forward/backward play is it. You can't really tell but side to side and up and down have 0 play at all. 2 washers total between the hub and castle nut. I just double checked my gears before putting them back in as well. no problems at all. the bell housing on the clutch is fine. the pads on the 3 clutch arms are fine. the splines in the hub and on the axle are fine. No metal shavings/dust in any of it.

Wait a minute, I can see the HOLE IN THE AXLE SHAFT outside of the Castle NUT?? Am I seeing that right? If that is the case the axle is TOO FAR OUT the Hole in the AXLE should be under one of the SLOTS of the CASTLE NUT and a COTTER PIN going down one of the CASTLE NUT SLOTS and into the hole in the AXLE. That tells me you have to tap in the axles at least a 1/4 inch or 3/8 of an inch , the Castle nut should be out more Like this: Alleyoop

OK, that is better, on the first picture you do not have the cotter pin and the hole is looks like it is outside of the Castle Nut. But, did you add those washers behind the castle nut or did it come that way? Alleyoop
