I had posted a story about me replacing my stator and the steps involved. How I ordered from e-bay 69 plus 10 shipping...well that wonderful new stator fried two of the three wires on the coils of the stator. They looked to be black and very brittle. like they were extremely hot. I am talking about the copper wire coming off the coil where it attatches to the yellow wire leading up and out of the right engine cover. Going tomorrow to scooter place that sells used parts and has tons of them. 20 bucks for stator. THis will be my third stator on this bike, what could be causing them to fry like they are. I do run this thing hard and fast on all freeways for long periods of time. like 50 miles non-stop pretty much WOT. But did that last year with the original stator and it lasted til 11,260 miles. This last one only lasted til 12,800... any light shed on this will greatly be appriciated.. Thanks a ton for this site....

I have wired in a cigarett lighter plug in type thing so to power my GPS. It is fused and directly wired from the battery. When Bike is idling With the new stator I just installed this afternoon, BTW it is a CF Moto stator, so hope the quality is better than the one I got off e-bay, I am getting 14.46 volts. My fan seems to run alot, doesn't cycle very often. Think that could fry the stator? And is the fan sensor somehow tied into the engine temp guage? Thanks for any help with this...

The fan running will not fry your stator. about the only thing that would really hurt the stator is having major DEAD short.
The stators run at full capacity all the time. As long as the motor is running the stator is working at the max it will do for the rpms it is at.

ok, so I took out the therostat and boiled it in a pan of hot water. it opened at aroung 180 range. Anyway I put it back in scoot and wow, does the fan work and cycle on and off like it used to. That stuck therostat must have been the problem as to why my fan seemed to run constantly once it kicked in. I had a gut feeling there was something amiss... now all is good and purrs like kitten with 13,352 miles on . only problem now is the leak from the stator cover, forth time i have been in there. new gasket and proper torque settings, still has leak.. any thoughts on how to fix leak... please tell me there is a miracle product one just sprays on and leak is gone forever.... thanks
