I've been working on a charging problem for a while....... Finally figured out that the hot wire (Red) to the R/R isn't getting enough Voltage. It's getting only 6-7 volts.
So I jumped across from a hot wire carrying full charge and my lights came on bright when I turned the key on and the system actually started showing a bit of a charge.
So I began pulling the covering off the wiring and found a couple things that really bother me. I found that the ground wires on both ends of the wiring harness have easily 6 wires wired to one small wire. I also found that the hot wires are the same way, several hot wires connected to one small wire, then thru the harness to the other end where there are several more hot wires connected to that same wire.
I've separated several of the grounds and mounted them to the frame. Next I'm thinking of installing a fuse block and then connect the hot wires to this block. I can get one where I can separate the always on hot wires and the hot with ignition on wires. I think this may take some load off the factory harness and may even help with the charging system. It may also help the wires coming from the R/R as they seem to get pretty hot when the scooter is running.
I'm wondering, has anyone else thought about installing a fuse block in their scooter? If so, did it help any?

I have used these. I posted this in another thread a couple weeks ago. Arlingtonproducts has more than just these 2 fuse blocks also.

Did separating some of the hot wires and running them thru the fuse block help any with charging issues or warm/hot wires?
I have a problem with the plug on the R/R getting hot to the touch when the scooter is running. Not hot enough to melt anything, but still pretty warm.

Ok, I installed the relay in place of the Blocking Diode and I'm heading in the right direction.............. It's charging at 13 volts with the fan running and the RPM's around 3-4000. When I hook up the headlights though (3 tail lights on rear still on) I drop to about 12.5 volts. I think that I need to install LED's and possibly put an off switch on one of the headlights. I could also remove two of the bulbs in the rear for the tail/brake lights, as the large one in the middle should be adequate, as it's pretty bright. That would take some of the load off and possibly put my scooter on the + charging side. Also, the R/R that people have been recommending may be in the future, but just don't have the money right now. But as said, I have it going in the right direction finally.
