You know, if you get something bigger than a 50cc, you might venture out a few more blocks!

True but I'd need a motorcycle license for that and the last time I tried to get one in NY I got kicked out of the pre licensing course for almost mowing down the instructor, um a few times. I can't deal with shifting ( can't drive a standard ) LOL. I learned when you let go of the hand controls it is NOT like letting go of the safety on a lawn mower, you do NOT stop. Woops. If I were ever able to get that license though I'd just get a motorcycle and not a scooter since my dream bike is a Hyabusa. I love they way they look, I just wish they made them smaller. I don't need 1,300cc

Noce looking bike but that's like going from impulse to warp speed(Star Trek if your too young). I see what you are saying about a motorcycle license, if you got a 150cc, you would be able to got 55mph consistently and venture further. Although it sounds like you live in an area that a 150 would be more at risk.
Keep the 50 and enjoy the ride. As I always say, It's more about the journey than the destination.

True. Ya, 20mph is all I need here. People don't pay any attention to red lights or stop signs on South Beach so not only am I only going 20mph, I'm always stopping for idiots too! I see people on bikes get further faster than me sometimes

Wow I feel like a dip now for thinking I could fix scooters on the side for extra cash. I can't even figure out my own! Maybe just oil changes on the side? I have that figured out at least. LOL!

be thankful you are not in business, when a serious problem on a honda is solved, the guy gets a bill for $700 and says wow..pays it and rides off........same problem and time on a chinese scooter, the owner will never pay or pick it up because he paid $595 shipped for it! john,

I have to admit, I charge 35.00 for an oil change but that includes synthetic oil with an ounce of zink replacement and a transmission change with synthetic. I also get 40.00 an hour for other repairs. I actually make more money fixing coots thwn at my actual job. Unfortunately once the snow files its all over.

maybe if I were younger and a bit more mobile I would enjoy it more.
It looks like I may have to put up the 400cc majesty for a while. I had been having it die at intersections from low idle so I did a search for causes on a yamaha forum and then tore into it. I have yet preformed the test, waiting for the dust to settle as I blew it all out with air. It does have electronic diagnostics, ..... one benefit of fuel injection but it is not going to be a big help. the service manual gives a resistance test for the ISC (idle valve controller). In any case since it is not working some thing (isc) most probable is broke, and is part of the throttle body and the cost is over $300. fuel injection is sure NICE when it works,.....BUT.
At a dealer this repair would exceed the value of lot of chinese bikes. With the US gov, EPA, and pollution it won't be long before the chinese will have to go EFI too. It may end up that they become a throw/away item just as so much of the electronics and other chinese items are today. A repair shop trying to make a living would have big trouble today with engine repairs now on a new scooter that sells for $595 shipped. John
edit: after checking out every thing by the manual I found parts were ok so I just did like it had a carb and turned a screw on the throttle stop. I just never expected a simple solution. I'll never admit how much time it took but it would have took a normal person 3-4 hours at least to get all the tupper ware off in order to almost see what had to be done.
