50cc Roketa Problem after Going Over Bump By samgeneric (Read 565 times)

I have a 50cc Roketa. I went over a bump yesterday, and instantly, the scooter got louder, and I went from about 8k rpms to 6k rpms. My speedometer doesn't work, but it felt a lot slower at the top speed as well. Anyhow, I'm new to this scooter thing. If you have any ideas about what might be wrong and what I need to do, let me know.

I think that throws up a big red flag, possibly something to do with the exhaust. Follow your muffler from the end up to the engine inspecting as you go for holes and loose bolts. The problem with the exhaust is usually where it bolts onto the exhaust port with two acorn nuts. Check to see if things seem tight against the engine and then, if you feel you can do this safely, while the engine is idling put your hand around the connection and see if you can feel any exhaust chuffing out. If so that's probably your problem and check back with us. Rich

Yeah what he said!!!!! If ya bottomed out on a bump you may have bent, shifted or otherwise have an exhaust leak. Make sure that if you do feel airflow it's not from the cooling shroud but the exhaust port. Slow down next time

Haha, I wasn't going fast. It was a manhole in the middle of an intersection. I was literally just coming off a red light. Anyhow, I did what you told me to do. I found that the exhaust pipe is completely disconnected at it's base. What do I need to do to reattach it?
