My scoot has the "P" in the serial number and I believe that I may have ordered the wrong head from Scrappydog.
I ordered a standard non egr replacement head and valve cover to replace my egr head.
1) Since I have a "P"head this one will be too short? 2) Can I replace the timing chain with a non "P" engine and run this head?
Judging from some pictures the cam appears to be in the same place it's just the "walls" are higher and that will make the valve cover sit higher. I hope this is the case..... Thanks for your help. RSH

The 'P' engines often have a tall 73mm head and the stock is 60mm You can use a standard head and shorten the cam chain, but you can't use the 'P' cam in a stock head...the lobes are different so, I understand Attachments:

Oddly enough that is good news since I measured my head and it is 59.95mm. That seems to go against the 1P57QMJ engine code but who knows. I think I'm going to be ok with the other components as well since it was running with a short non "p" head.
Thanks Sprocket

YUP... there are engines marked with a P and have a standard head...So what the P actually stands for is a bit of a debate...some say it for a horizontal engine, which was its original designation, but then all GY6 engines would be P engines.. so who knows!
I think you are good to go...
