New 250 chaunl scooter working on getting bugs out of scooter.
Let it set over weekend. When returned on Monday battery was dead. Hooked up charger, as soon as I did headlights and dashlights came on with engine off and no key in ignition. Having hard time with little info on this issue. HELP!

when i lock my steering if i turn 1 click to fair my lights come on did u do that?

Welcome to Scooter Doc, wolly48. It sounds like your scoot is the type with the headlights always on with the engine running. This type of scoot uses a blocking diode which makes this feature possible. If this diode shorts out, then you will have lights on all the time. It is the small heat sink unit on the top left in this picture:



A simple way to check this unit is to disconnect it by separating the white plug (2 wires). If the lights go out, then the diode is shorted.

My charging ability also quit, that is what concerned me. My diode looks a little different, it has a hole thru the center and the Red and Yellow wire plug hook directly to it. When the blocking diode is disconnected, you will also lose the charging ability. Here's another view of this part:

The diode that is in both post do not look like mine. I searched many sites on the internet and finally found it @ Chinese Scooter Parts Online. ( under DIODE section)

The diode arrived today. I put it in the scooter. Lights stayed off until engine was started and charging system is working.
Problem Solved.
