TRANNY DRAIN HOLE STRIPPED By Alleyoop (Read 1,510 times)

Well my Tranny Drain hole got stripped and I was leaking some tranny oil. So I got some poly something washers and put two on the screw and tried that. It was much better but still some drops here and there. I do not like oil leaks or leaks of anykind. So I tried to find Oversized Oil Bolts and did find several companyies that had them but NOT 8mm, they only make them for 10mm and up drain holes. Then I found what they call a PIGGY-BACK drain plug which I really would prefer since you never have to unscrew the main PLUG from the case just the little plug that screws into the main plug. That would be perfect you would never have to worry about stripping the case again. But there again they only make them for I think it was 12mm drain holes. I also tried plumbers tape it worked for a bit but the tape does not like heat and it ate the tape and started to drip again. So Do it right and do the following:

So I finally found on EBAY an 8mm PERM-COIL set and that is what I put in today. It comes with a Tap and a bunch of inset metal coils and a Coil driver. It requires you to drill out the existing hole using a 21/64 drill and then Re-Thread the hole and put in the metal coil.
Took me all of 30 minutes draining the existing oil and everything. So far so good went for a 40 mile ride and no leaks.

Hey alley, You got that rocket ship to lift off yet? I use those at work I also use helicoil and some different brands I can't remember. some times the holes are so stripped I don't even need to drill it out, just need to tap it and thread in insert.

No lift off yet, but that sucker does move out smartly. If I hit it good it actually throws you back in the seat. The motor now has a lot more power has almost 2000K on it. I just grin to myself like an kid, it cranks up to 60 like nothing and quick to boot.

It is funny I will be in traffic waiting for the light to change and I see cars getting in the inner lane thinking this guy is going to hold me up(NOT). Light changes and I am off to the races
the cars that moved over are way behind me, then I let up to let him know IT IS ALLEYOOP on this ROCKET SHIP not a slow boat to china.
