I'm trying to get a headlight together for my naked scooter. I want take it out and test the oil cooler without getting stopped. I bought a white LED light from Auto Weinie and was planning on hooking it right to the battery. After a little experimentation I discovered that it's non-directional and I could hook the wires up either way on the battery. So then I thought I'd try it hooked up to the AC circuit and see what happened. I haven't killed an electrical part in a while and am starting to feel like Dexter. To my surprise it lit right up and was just as bright as the DC hookup. However there is a noticeable flicker that I think is coming from the cycle of the AC current. I'm just wondering if this is legal and would a cop pull you over for it. Police are understandably hinky about headlights and I'm not sure how they'd feel about this. So what do you think, legal enough for the street? Rich

I think it would depend upon the local police and their attitude towards scooter operators more than whether the light is legal or not. As long as you don't ride at night with the "winking" light, you should be fine.

You know Silverfox96, you're right, during the day they would probably just think it's a safety winker like a lot of motorcycles use. The cops would probably think I'm extra cautious and leave me alone! Thanks for your reply, that helped. Rich
