I had a couple errands to run and decided to ride Maggi because some of my rout required highway driving. Got to my destination and when I was done. I came out got on and tried to start her up. That's when she decided to get an attitude and didn't start. The starter turned slow For a few seconds, then nothing. I got a jump from a good Samaritan and rode home pulled in the drive shut her off then tried to start, same thing again. I'm beginning to not like big scooters with out a Kick starter. Now I gotta tear into her to find out why she ain't charging and whoop her back into shape.

Ok, I got the battery out and the connections were corroded, also noticed the battery was not sealed real good. It is a wallymart neverstart battery. I cleaned it up and recharged it. I also bought a new one, different brand though just in case. I hooked it up checked the voltage, it was 12.9v. I started it up and voltage went to 13.5v. When I revved it up voltage went to 14v-14.5v. Then when I turn the headlights on voltage drops to about 12.8v. I got the front off to get to the headlights to find out what kind of bulbs are in it. but can't get the lens cover off. I don't want to break it so I'm looking for tips to getting it off. Getting to the lights is like going through the arse to do eye surgery. Roy

They are probably 55w if it makes it drop that much. I don't know if you ride at night or not but I just run with the Running Lights that are on mine. They are on the sides of the headlights. So mine is always at 14.5 Idleing or running. Alleyoop

I'm thinking they are 55w. Yes I ride at night as I get off work at 11pm. I'm Getting a list of what kind of bulbs are in this so I can change them all to led.

I finally got the headlight housing off. The type of bulb is molded into the back of the housing. It is marked as H1 55w 12v. All the auto stores do not carry a H1 35w bulb. So I'm gonna order an HID kit to put in it. The low beam is a projector type housing. The brake/tail light is led so I wont have to change it.

I noticed everything is 55W now at the auto store, it must be all the rage and a competition thing. They do sell LEDs but they're outrageous. I'm curious to see how your HID mod works out, I think more riders are going to be forced to do that. My R/R always pumps out 14.5 by the way. Rich

Well, while I am waiting on The new hid lights I decided to mount some led driving lights. As I was working on the wiring I discovered the get the hell outta my way button don't work. I tested the button it works, the wires are ok. The wimpy noise maker no workie. So I got a air horn to put on it. Its gonna be fun figuring out how and where to put it. The nose section is pretty cramped.

I got the hid kit today. But I gotta replace the master cylinder on my truck first. The kit and contents. I got a long list of to do stuff and not enough time to do it all. Vacation time is runnin' out. I gotta prioritize. Roy

Hid bulbs are a little larger than halogen bulbs. I have to file the lamp projector housings so that the bulb will go in the housing and seat properly. I had to take the plastic housing apart. Then I had to remove the back of the projector housing to do this without getting filing shaving inside the lamp projector.

Well here is the scoop on the lights. I got them installed and tested them. When I turned them on The right side ballast started humming and the light went out. I immediately shut them off and checked all connections. I turned them back on and the right one light up but the left did the same thing. This happened several times with the light that went out being random. I checked the voltage and it was at 12.55v. I have to say the light output seems to be substantially brighter than the 55w halogen bulbs. I got 35w 6000k color temperature bulbs. If I can figure out the shutting off problem I think these lights will be great.

Roy: Pretty much the same problem on my Magnum. I replaced the low beams with 64 Led bulbs. They are great for daytime running...not so good at night. LEDs don't forecast like regular bulbs do. So I run high beams at night. I've never had anyone flash me with the high beams on so I think all is good. It's rare I drive at night anyway.
