Today my brother-in law and I drove down to Hammond Indiana to check out the Can-Ams. WOW!! talk about a machine, those suckers are awesome. They have more luggage room than you would take on a trip. It has a built in rear trunk, two built in side saddles that open like a brief case, and the Front opens up and just in front you can fit what you would normally take in a suitcase on a week long trip. It even has a windshield wiper. Radio with front speakers and rear speakers in the built in Trunk. It is a very sharp ride. It has 5 forward gears and a reverse, to shift you use your thumb on the left hand grip, the brake is by your right foot peg, If you want they will put a hand grip brake. It has POWER STEERING and self adjusting shocks, the windshield will raise 6 more inchs higher so for a 6'2 person you would be looking through the windshield. Otherwise you will be looking just over the windshield. It downshifts automacticely and will not let you SHIFT up if the RPMS are to low. You cannot start it until you push a button that you are ready to get it on. It has 990 twin V with 106hp. It will crank out over 115 mph. It has gyros and will bring down the rpms and brake if you are taking a turn to fast, not that you will tip it over but that you may fly off the damn thing. They were really nice they had a couple with Manual Shifts and they had a 2 Whites,Red,Silver and a Blue. After we checked one out and the guy explained all the functions he said which one would you like to try out. We took the Sliver one and they moved some of the ones that were in the way to get it out and he started and finally got it through the front door and out on the sidewalk. We had called ahead of time and were told to ride one we would need Helmets so we brought our helmets (HEHE). Then one other guy jumped on a Silver Wing and he was the Lead man and we took turns riding it. Man does it have the power and smooth and with the POWER STEERING it felt really light even though the thing weighs over 700lbs. All in all it is an AWESOME MACHINE BUT YOU GET what you pay for and it is NOT CHEAP. We sat down and figured out the out the Door price at $28,300.00. A friend of mine rode one of those for about a year. He eventually sold it because the crotch rocket riding position was killing him. He also had quite a few mechanical problems but the dealer was really good about taking care of them. My friend just loved the Rotex engine. Rich
