After I bought my Roketa scooter EVERYONE told me they were a pile of crap and that finding parts for them would be impossible. I should get a good brand name bike so that parts would ALWAYS be available.
Well...
I had NO trouble finding parts for the Roketa. Granted, I needed to find parts frequently, but they're available EVERYWHERE online. And the prices were usually reasonable.
I got rid of the Roketa in favor of a Honda Silverwing mainly because my little woman and I like to ride 2up and the 250cc Roketa just couldn't handle that comfortably. Now I'm having minor trouble with the Honda and guess what? Parts for the thing are REALLY hard to find. HAVE to go to the dealer for a lot of stuff. Then THEY want to install it for you at a low, low rate of $85/hr. Also the parts you can find are out of sight expensive.
I guess the reason for this post is to give you ammo when people tell you that you can't find parts for your Chinese scoot. Tell them to go look up a drive belt for a Honda silverwing on Google!

I've been buying parts for my Big Ruckus from www.bikebandit.com on their OEM section. Another source is www.cheapcycleparts.com They have an OEM section too. They have the microfiche listing on both sites. $132.40 For the belt!!!!! I thought the $85 for mine was pricey. Wow!

LOL Turns out I don't need a belt, but I found another one for $92. As I recall the one for the Roketa was like $45

I don't think I've ever not been able to locate a part for my Sino-scooters. The problem is there's no dealer support network like there is for a Honda or Kawasaki. Therefore, you have to waste time scrounging around the web for the part on sites that are often incomprehensible. You guys are right, the dealers are the ulitmate scooter snobs and want your next born for payment. I wish Cookees sold online, he provides fantastic dealer support at reasonable prices. There's not many like him, just look at his avatar. Rich

I guess I don't understand your argument.
I have a Shen 250 and a Honda Silver Wing 600.
Yes, the original Honda parts are expensive. The point is that you don't need them very often.
But your problem is you have to go to a dealer for parts? What dealer can I go to for my Shen? Nobody and I mean NOBODY has parts locally for this thing. It's the internet or nothing. Luckily the internet has everything I need, and that's for both the Shen and the Silver Wing. So what's the problem?

The problem is that you drive to the Honda dealer, which in my case is 40 miles away. Of course he doesn't have the part in stock so you go home and wait for it to come in, then drive another 80 miles there and back to pick it up. Let's see, 160 miles at 20 mpg, 8 gallons at $3.70 per equals about $30 in gas, plus my time. Internet-I told you above where to look and most parts cost the same as a dealer and cost five to ten dollars to ship. Plus my local Honda dealer can drop dead before I'd spend another dime in the place. I buy all my China scoot parts online and they come in three days. Same for the Honda and Yamaha.

Thanks Rich, I appreciate the good words. We looked into selling online... but then I look at how many people bitch about j ust about everything... and I think " Life's just too damn short"40 years in the A/C business taught me if your going to do parts its like another shop. Cant blame you at all I think the floor is much more important. Parts for walkin traffic expose the customer to your sales line and generate interest as well as new product awareness. Good decision on the parts situation as I see it.

I don't know how relevant this is but I found this board through www.scrappydogscooters.com and every part I have ordered through them has been better quality than the original part I was replacing. It takes about 3 days to get them but when I bought my first tire for my sunny JL-4 I went to a local place and it cost 45 dollars for a tire and 15 to mount. I recently ordered a new tire for the front and it cost 20 dollars and took me about 20 minutes to mount. So all said I will stick with Scrappy Dog and ordering online for my chinese scoot. Vern
