I was on my way home from work just now. I thought it was funny that this guy driving a scooter in front of me was easily 250+ lbs and his scooter looked quite small for his size. I have a 2007 Bashan Eagle 150cc. We were both at the red light. We were NOT racing either obviously since he was in front of me. He had me easily by 10+ mph. I was amazed on how fast his scooter was going especially with man of his size. I saw him before and the scooter emblem on the side was a BUDDY. The tires and the overall size of the scooter was smaller than mine so I doubt it was a 250cc. Anyone have any idea on what type of scooter this was (besides BUDDY) and how it was possible for him to be going that much faster than me. I doubt he was driving WOT either. I was traveling at least 45 mph and he was at least 10 car lengths ahead of me by the time I reached 45.

The Genuine/Buddys are made by PGO in Taiwan hence the upper tier construction. Some of them are EFI which would account for the performance enhancements. The engine appears to be a GY6 although it may be a variation on this. Here's one of their service manuals if you'd like to peruse through it. Rich

If you compare price tags you wouldn't be so jealous. This is from Motorcycle USA: At $3499, the Black Jack retails right in the middle of its competition - $700 less than a comparable Vespa S150 but $600 more than the Piaggio Fly 150 and Yamaha Vino 125. Feel better now? Rich

Go him one better. I saw an ad once in Craigslist where a guy listed all the OTD expenses for his standard Buddy 150. It started out at $3200 and by the time he paid for freight, title, tax and registration from the dealer it was about $3800. I could buy a fleet of online Chinese scoots for that. That's why a CF Moto E-Charm or Kymco Super 8 makes so much more sense to me.
