Looks like I have a valve struck. went to start my majesty after setting a week and it turned over, had spark so I checked compression and got none. wishing it was a gy6 now, I would not have any qualms about a tear down like I do on this one. I suppose pulling the valve cover would be next. I hate working on some thing I want to be riding especially with the season winding down. john

it's a 400cc. a fellow on the majesty forum says check the compression release. seems it is built in to the valve train and applies automatically. that would explain a lot. will get out the manual later when i get back home. john

Yeah, I got one of them high tech compression release mechanisms on my GY6, it's called taking the plug out. Good luck and let us know what shakes out. Rich

Thought it over a little and am not going to get all bent out of shape over it. yesterday I got my old riva out and been riding it. on the 28th of sept a year ago I bought a battery for it, installed, took a test ride and parked it. after changing gas out to fresh and starting it runs exactly the way it did a year ago, perfect. I an going to get to a yamaha shop soon and ask a few questions and get some prices. the shop where I bought it does not have a qualified mechanic so I will have to travel a little to get to a real shop. they used to have one but don't now. when I go in I will first ask some questions about majesty engines and if I feel they have never had one apart I will go some where else. I will probably pull the valve cover and look for some thing simple and if more than that will probably let them do it as the twin cams are adjusted with shims. might pull head and send that out too. any way not worth worrying about. I will have to get the brake braket ordered for the chinese scooter I have too. john

I finally took it apart. valves and decompression device looked great with the valve cover off. I put 10cc of rotella in through the spark plug hole with a syringe, walla, got compression back/ before I let it set a week I had put a little seafoam in the oil and it apparently washed the crud out from behind the rings. I may just put it back together and worry about it next spring. at around 15k miles, that is way too soon to wear out the rings. a lot of people are riding majestys with50k and more that have never had the engine touched. the gauge only went 90lbs, 100 at first cause of all the extra oil on top of the piston. also was getting tons or blow by out of the engine vent. turns out the air filter was soaked with oil too. ya win some and ya loose a few. new cylinders are available for the worst case.
my carino has been parked for over a year needing a caliper bracket. I got serious this afternoon and found one using the zen model number. it has been shipped and when i get it I will name the shipper. john
