Can anyone help me with the wiring on the bike. My son has a 2004 model but i have a 2008 model engine i want to install. The wiring coming from the generator on the 2004 model has 3 wires but only 2 on the 2008 model. Can anyone tell me the difference or will i need to change the generators in which case i will need to get the special removal tool to do this

If you look on the Manuals board in our Library you'll find the SYM Jet manual under non-Chinese. There are wiring diagrams at the very end of the PDF. Can you tell me what color wires you're seeing on the two bikes coming out of the stators? Rich

The 2004 generator has 1 yellow, 1 pionk, and 1 blue with a yellow strip. The coo8 model does not have the blue with yellow strip

Well the wiring diagram we have for the Jet 50 Euro does not match up with what you're telling me. That doesn't surprise me as fast as these things change from year to year. But from some personal experience I can make a fairly educated gues as to what's going on. The white and pink wires are AC feeds that power your llights and battery. The yellow probably is regulated to 12v AC and runs most of the lights. The pink most likely is converted to DC and supplies the battery. The blue/yellow is your pulsar coil and tells the CDI when to fire. The 2008 does have a pulsar too, it's just hidden under the cowl and possibly sits farther forward on the flywheel. I'm pretty sure the white and pink wires would be plug and play, just hook them up the same. Pull the engine cowling on the 2008 and you'll see the pulsar coil somewhere around the flywheel with a blue/yellow wire. It should be plug and play also because the flywheel will be oriented to the crank correctly to fire at the right time. If the pulsar is oriented in a different spot I don't think there'd be a place to mount it if you did try to swap. By the way, if you do pull the flywheel you'll ned a flywheel puller and I'd imagine they're specific for SYM bikes. These bikes are complicated though and that's just an educated guess. Anybody else have some thought? Rich
