Hey trevnar, welcome to Scooter Doc. Alleyoop is our resident Trike specialist from the Windy City. Hopefully he's heard something about the Honda upgrade and can answer your question. If you need tech assitance you can post in the clinic section which you'll see on the main of the forum. If you need any help getting around the forum just shoot me a PM. Have fun! Rich

Welcome Trevnar, Good to have you on the forum, I responded to your questions in the Trike section. If they say 40mph they have the 63cc motor. Now in the specs they will always say 49.5 but that is so you can register it as under 50cc. In a lot of states it falls under their MOPED laws, which usually means no driving test and no special license you may still need insurance and plates.
ROYLDOC on here has a 50cc Trike and has done a lot of work on his and fixed some problems he is very familiar with the trike he may chime in and help as well. Again Welcome Ride Safe Alleyoop

Hello an welcome trevnar. Your ZH-50X is the same as Ice Bears Ace (PST50S-12) model. I have a 50 size trike also. It came from the factory with a 72cc engine in it already. I have done many mods and repairs to my trike and am very familiar with it. I am not sure about the honda engine, a little more info on it would be helpful, such as the engine number. If you need help give us a detail of your problems and we can get started.

Yep, you will have to drill out the Fuel Ratio Mixture screw to adjust the carb better so it starts easier or buy a Carb just like it with the Screw already available(no getting around it). Also if it wants to die out after it is hot while riding and coming to a stop that indicates your valves need to be adjusted. Alleyoop

I cannot tell you unless you take the carb off and measure the INTAKE side of it to find what size is currently on there. Or it may have a tag on it or itched on the side of the carb telling the size of it. But most 50s usually come with a 18mm Carb. But I am sure Royldoc would know what the carb size is. He may have changed his out as well OR drilled out the plug on his. But once that is known then we can find where to get it at the cheapest price. Different dealers sell them at prices from $25.00 and up for the same carb, so actually for any part you have to google and check out who has the best price. Alleyoop

My stock carburetor is a 19mm inlet with a #28 pilot jet and a #80 main jet. I ended up using a #32 pilot jet and a #85 main. I did have to drill out the plug for the fuel ratio mixture screw. I also had good luck with a 20mm carb. with those same jets. I tried a 24mm carb but it was really finicky. But what worked for mine may or may not work for you. there is a lot of variables in tuning a carb. such at altitude and temperature. I now have a E.F.I system and love it. They are a little pricy though. I also removed all the emission stuff. The charcoal/vapor canister had a vacuum leak. Before changing out the carb. You should do the basic stuff. Check all the hoses for cracks, deterioration and leaks. Check for vacuum leaks. Check to make sure the fuel flows good from tank to the carb.. Also check the electric choke/enricher. And as alley said set the valves. Hard starting and dying when hot at stops is a symptom of valves out of adjustment. Did you purchase this new or used?

Yes the open nub on the bottom is the way it is. One line should be coming from the fuel tank and another hose from the Vacuum. Alleyoop
