The problem now is that some of the shoddy manufacturers are cloning the CF Moto engine which CF got from Honda. As I understand it, and Cookees knows a lot more about this, CF got the original design and tooling right from Honda. The clones are just a copy of CF's engine so it's a gamble. We've had some guys on the forum with the clones and all of them were problematic. If it wasn't a CF Moto engine I personally wouldn't buy it. JMO, Rich

As with all China scoots it depends who the importer is and how it was ordered. SunL used to order that model with cheap components while Roketa (Goldenvale) ordered it with better wiring, lines and electrics. The model itself is pretty good although the Linhai (horizontal engine) crowd will have you believe it has inferior cooling, charging system and a back tire that wears out overnight.
I want one since the valve adjustments take minutes as opposed to the hours spent getting to the Linhai rockers and the engine is a Honda clone. In this neck of the woods I've seen used ones for $500. Killermotorsports is selling the Roketa version new for $1529.

Thanks. Speaking of Goldenvale, they are a bunch of crooks. I know someone who bought a crated scoot from a Goldenvale dealer and it never came. He used a method of payment such that the money could not be recovered. $580 total loss. MODIFY: Actually it came damaged and he refused it. It went back and they never sent another one and never gave him any refund whatsoever either. Point is, watch how you pay Goldenvale because if they see a chance to rip you off, they will. dealernewsblog.com/tag/roketa/Anyway, yes I was thinking the valve adjustments would be much easier on a vertical engine as well.

I'm not recommending Goldenvale-the company, just Roketas. If I was going to buy one right now I'd recommend this. www.killermotorsports.com/250cc_Cruiser_Gas_Scooter_w_Trunk_Radio_p/jclmp250e.htmThese guys have stood the test of time in the business and have the parts for them. I've heard newer ones have cooling system improvements but even older ones can be tamed with some kind of anti-freeze treatment like Water Wetter. Jim at Rapid Repair has had good relations with Roketa for years so they seem to have a good side, plus he has good luck with the scooters themselves after he does his "Super Prep."

The only thing is I've heard just as many bad things about T-motorsports as I've heard good. Killer is a better bet. Yes they are the same. It's the Roketa Bali 250 no matter who you buy it from.

This happened a couple years ago but the guys that ran Goldenvale were arrested and convicted of fraud for emissions violations. As I remember they shut Roketa down for a while but they were soon up and running again. Here's the article if you're interested. Rich
