That's a hellof a deal for that bike. Mine is going to take about 400 maybe a little more to fix right.

aw i forgot to factor that into my project. so it will total 700$ plus the title and tag. dont have one to transfer to it so thats going to be 80 for the title and 120-170 for the tag. so i figure the cost of the full resto and the legal fees, it will be about a grand. fwew i swear it was not supposed to total that when i was getting the bike lol

I am being honest when I'm telling you that your engine will go 80,000+ miles if taken care of. Oil changes every 1,000 miles and a clean air filter are about all. Valve adjustments are far and few between. I'm also being honest when I say there are NO high performance parts for this engine. No cams, carbs, heads, or bbks for this engine. I knew of one person who had a bbk made for her Rebel but she had to buy a minimum of 40 and try to sell the rest. Or you can custom grind a cam, or machine a new intake. See what I mean. There are custom exhausts made for that engine that bolt on. Check Jacks. There is very little increase if any to be gained but they look and sound great. Also if it is cold blooded on first start up, nothings wrong. These engines are very well known to need a long warm up before the choke is opened. It would make a neat little cafe racer. I saw a CB 175 done up that way and it was beautiful.

Man you are reading my mind, I'm tore between a cafe racer or a bomber. Bobber will be allot cheaper then the cafe's style because there are more parts i can mod for the cafe look.

im sure most of you already know but for those who dont know, this is the difference between a cafe racer, and a bobber. The following 3 are CAFE RACERS The Following Pics are BOBBERS now you can see the difference between the two. each with their own set of pros and cons. just know that the cafe racer requires ALOT more modification then a bobber would, including cutting the frame, welding the frame, adding new frame in to change it, moving the gear shifter position, installing drag bars, lowering shocks, and alot more mods. the bobber is simple in its design and way CHEAPER then the cafe look. for this i would, cut shock mounts, weld them in a place to lower bike, remove seat, add seat with springs, lower front shocks. that would be about it. anyways, enjoy the pics

One advantage in owning a Royal Enfield is the accessories catalog. They have bolt on kits to build a cafe racer, trials bike, scrambler, euro style and anything you could want. Cams, bbk, stroker kits, pistons, sidecars, trailers, and about anything you want including alloy gas tanks, rear sets and more stuff than a Harley catalog. Still with a little parts searching and minor fab work a cafe racer, a basic cafe racer built from a Honda or any small motorcycle is possible. Welding not required. I rode with a guy with a twin cylinder, 6 speed, 50, that's right 50cc cafe racer. He bought it in Canada and made it his own. It was beautiful. It would top out at 65mph and weighed under 200 lbs.

Yeah they do have allot. I'm limited to the rebel stuff. But not to worry, the rebel stuff is pretty cheap. For the price of a monster gy6 big rear wheel conversion,i can buy a full bobber kit for my Honda.

Sorry. I vote for "None of the Above." Clean it up, slap a windshield and a set of bags on it and you'll have a companion for life. Tourer, grocery getter and commuter that will serve you well. We set up my wife's Rebel that way and she's using it like her car, weather permitting.

I use my scooter like you use your Rebel. Our motorcycles are used for pleasure and besides saddle bags they are stock but kept in great condition. We ride rather than drive when ever possible. We are both retired so we don't put too many miles on anything we own. I also have a 1970 Honda SL 90 that is apart now for paint and I have a new 90cc engine to go in it. The SL was the scrambler model in 70 and it will be my toy. It will be cheap to build and a ball to ride when its finished. The Rebel as you know has no performance mods other than nice looking and sounding exhaust pipes that may give you another 1/2 hp. With the exception of removing the hot pipe and fine tuning the carb the RE is stock. Even with all the bolt on mods. available I like it stock. The only reason Debbie let me put saddle bags on her Rebel is because I didn't have to change anything or drill wholes on the motorcycle to install them. Its a first year low mileage 1985. She (and I) want to keep it original.

I plan on getting it running right first and anything cosmetic that i do to it will be to return it to its stock appearance. Later on down the road i might do a mildbobber setup to make it unique but an idea that i have is to make the bobber seat detachable so i can place a two person seat when me and my woman go on a ride.

The guy who painted this car is going to be the one doing the free advertisement paint job on my bike. He has offered to paint either the scooter or the Honda. Which one should i have him paint? Here is the video of the car. You can see my buddy James at the end of the video.
