Well I am moving on my way to getting my scooter just the way I want it ,but the tach does not work . My question is ,does the signal for the tach come from the stator trigger or the cdi unit ?Is there any testing that will help me find my problem ?This little used scooter will be so much fun this summer when I get all these little fixes done .

Most tachometers use inductive pulses from the plug wire. You usually don't have to directly wire the pick up to the plug, just wrap it around the wire. That is the way a Tiny Tach works. The other wires that would pulse correctly would be the coil feed from the CDI and the trigger pulse. I would think the plug wire would be the most obvious source. You should be able to tell by looking at it. Can you supply us a picture? Rich

if you want a more solid connection for your tach, try getting a wire clamp connector and tapping into the black wire with yellow stripe that comes out of the CDI going to the coil pack. connect it before the coil pack!. if you connect it after the coil pack, you will get inaccurate readings on your tach. let us know how it goes.

If you could pull the cowling off to expose the back of the tach and get a pic of the wires that would be great. Also, I'd like to see where the tach wire terminates. If you're not sure where the sensor wire hooks on try to get a good pic of the plug wire wire, CDI wires, and the coil wires. You can e-mail me the pictures at rich_carman@hotmail.com and I'll post them for you via my Photobucket account along with some porno....er..uh...I mean some reference photos. Seriously, get me the pics and I'll handle it for you. If you don't know how to e-mail pics let me know. Don't bother with Proboards attachments, they limit the KBs too much. However, that's a good looking scooter you have there. Rich
