The Honda runs and rides like a dream after I got the fuel shut off valve replaced ,but 2 times I have been riding it and it would stall .I check the spark its good ,fuel in the filter ,I even drained the carb bowl at the drain so I know there is fuel there .When it first happened I went ahead and put the seafoam in the tank and then put 25 miles on it .This morning I got up and road it to get the paper came back road it a couple miles to the trade day walked around there ,still running great came home and had to coast in the drive .Still had spark and fuel again .No start .This scooter has been setting in a garage for 8-9 years and it way to good not to find the little gremlin that's hiding in it giving me this trouble .I have been checking the spark with another plug .Do I need to get a adjustable park tester and test with it running and then test when it want start ? If the spark was weak the plug would be wet its not .I'm sorry for babbling .I just trying to give as much info as I can . When it would not start this morning I grabbed the Chinese scooter road it to wal-mart to get the core charge back on the Honda battery .I got back and just had to touch the starter on the Honda and it was ready to go again .I am just looking for ideals .Thanks for any help .

Check the valve gaps.. also get a multi meter and see if the battery is changing on the scooter...

You say you had to coast in the drive, did it shut off like you turned the switch off or did it sputter and die? Rich

Check to make sure the Ground from the Frame to the Motor is in good shape and not loose or not making good contact. If it is not a new coil check the boot cap make sure it goes on the spark plug nice and tight. Also check the boot cap is screwed onto the coil wire good, also the actual wire SCREWS on the coil itself so make sure the actual wire is screwed on nice and tight on both ends. If it is an old coil you can unscrew the cap and cut a little bit off the actual wire and screw the boot cap back on. Also check the connections going to the COIL itself they may be loose or the wires frared. Alleyoop

Could be a pick-up coil... they can go intermittent like that...but more likely a loose wire...
Once saw a kill switch that was broken inside and it would do a similar thing...the parts inside were moving around and making contact sometimes which grounded out the CDI and killed the engine...
