I think you may have a DC CDI. My 54b has a 6 pin connector 2/4 which I believe is AC.

Sunday cleaned and re-gap spark plug, had some loose wires on ignition coil, crimped them and pushed them back on, today test drive the scoot on the way to work, still doing it, bucking and then shutting off, each till the fan is on or just ready to come on, when its cool or cold no problems. cdi or ignition coil?

Since it acts good when it is cold I kills when it is hot I would say the CDI is the culprit. Alleyoop

Well before ordering a CDI lets try and make sure which one it is A DC or AC CDI. Don't want to get the wrong one and just throw away some bucks. So Please put a picture of the CDI and also Measure it Lenght wise and Width wise ok. That may help in determineing if DC or AC, Usually the DCs are bigger because they have more electronics in them. Richard, The picture is missing but I saw it on the other forum and it is a DC CDI. Good thing I suggested lets first make sure what kind of CDI is on there. If you had bought an AC CDI the seller will not take it back, sellers do not take back or warrant any electrical part. Well hope when you get it that it fixes the hickupping and dieing. Alleyoop

Alleyoop & Speedracer, I hope that will fix it, but I might get the ignition coil also. Thanks for your help.

Yea that is a good IDEA get the Ignition coil as well, heck you can use the ones you take off as spares. Alleyoop

I agree with Alley get the coil as well. Worst case you have spare and don't have to wait by ordering one.
