#1 goes in the hole...after entering the hole #1 goes into #2 which is attached to the cable to open the seat. #3 goes in under the top of #2 (top of the cylinder) #1 and #2 press together and #3 goes right under both of them. Full Size Pic tinyurl.com/7d76ujw

Exactly as Random Hero said
Lock tumbler pushed through the hole and the metal bracket is on the other side of the plastic. The hard part is figuring out how the clip pushed through the cuts on the tumbler.
If you think about it, you need to have pressure pulling the tumbler into the fender. The metal clip goes the opposite way that you would originally think. It goes with the metal tab pointing towards the outside (towards the bracket and the engine bay). The springiness of the "fingers" of the metal clip should push against the metal grooves, keeping it tight against the side of the fender. What I always do is to start it, push a big flat blade screwdriver against the flat part of the metal tab then one two hits to pop it in.

Ok, the CLIP slides onto a grove ON THE TUMBLER itself RIGHT? Now the CURVED PART of the CLIP does that FACE DOWN or UP toward the FENDER? Alleyoop

I do not understand how THAT CLIP keeps the bracket and cylinder tight unless the Curved part somehow hooks onto the bracket. I mean that clip will just move up and down if it just slides in the two FLAT spots on the Cylinder? If you have the Bracket out as well HERO put the Cylinder in the Bracket and clip to show me what they HEY, thanks bro I am still not getting it. Must be my old age or having a bad day or something. Ok I took out the cylinder and I see that right up top by the Cylinder there are two flat groves where the clip slides into. I thought the two flat groves were the lower ones on the cylinder but now i see there are two groves all the way up on the cylinder. I just tried to put the damn clip in and was sweating my arse off. There is only a little space through the bucket to get at it. But know that I know where the clip goes I will work on it tomorrow or monday. Thanks guys, man they should of made the cylinder with threads and a NUT, but I guess they wanted us to BUST our own NUTs putting this stuff together(HAHA). Alleyoop

Yea they left very little room to work in. The 1st time i did it I had the panel off, since then i have struggled with it on. I will see if i can find another bracket.

It's a legacy arrangement. I looked at my old '86 Spree and the seat lock is held on the exact same way. I think the clips are even the same size.
The way I've seen is to push on the clip so the curved part pushes away from the plastic. It's counterintuitive. It takes a few sharp whacks with a palm against the screwdriver to pop it into place.

Thanks guys, yea I got it figured out but It will be a bitch to put that CLIP on Because where the lock sits the fender curves down and I can see it from under the fender but a bitch to get at it. I might have to take the bucket out but I will first try with the bucket in. Alleyoop
