Do you guys mount your own tires on the rims or take it to shop to have it done. I have seen youtube videos of it done before but i am affraid to wreck the rim. I have got the old tires off myself, but putting new ones on seems tricky. I just ordered a static wheel balancer so i will be doing that myself as they say it is a better balance than computer spinning. just wondering... thanks.

i always take mine to a tire center that knows how to do scooter tires and rims. I have had customers do it themselfs and they end up bending the rim. I get charged 5 dollars per rim so its not that bad. or if you have a motorcycle shop nearby i would take it to them.

I just put another tire on my riva. a 10" and it is the hardest of all the tires I have changed. I replaced a almost new pirelli that had 1/32 less than brand new tread....another victory for junk pickup trucks dropping nails. I must have replaced $800 or more worth of tires due to junk trucks in the last 20 years. Driving one of them junks with no tail gate ought to be a capitol offense. If I had my way every time a cop catchs one with no tail gate it ought to be hauled to a scrap yard and crushed. Same with rusted out boxes. john
If you run over a nail or screw that is laying pointed towards you, the front wheel rolls over it, when tire gets to the head it stands the nail up and by the time the rear gets there it is at a 45 degree angle and goes right in the rear.

that why you put a row of high power magnets across the bottom of the scooter to catch the nails and bs before the back tire gets it

I had magnets on the front of my centerstand, the lowest part of the 1200cc crotch rocket I used to have and it never caught 1 nail but the back tire did with only a couple hundred miles on it. Hit the rim and turned and came out the sidewall, That one was around $200. The magnet s were there to trigger stop lights and did work for that.
