My New 2007 Jcl Mc-250 is hard to start! Its getting fuel to the float bowl and I know the pump is working. But it has to turn over a hundred times before it starts. It will start and quit, start and quit. It does this over and over til it stays running and i dont have to hit the starter button. I looked to see if there was an air pilot screw, but could not locate one. I just looked while the carb was still in the scooter. Any help would be great!

Once you get it started and running does it do OK or run like crap? Rich

Here is a 2007 MC54-250B with the Linhai Clone engine. Alleyoop Or you could have a different setup with a differrent carb like this one:

Alley A/F screw is under the carb. First thing I would check is the enricher. Check the pins on the connector from the enricher, then check to see if you are getting voltage to it.

Speedracer, That is why I put up the other picture of the Carb with the A/F under the carb. Not all 250s come with the same setup. Alleyoop

How come nobody said to check the valves?

I think because he wanted to know where the adjustment screws were on the carb and just plainly forgot to mention his valves if it is hard to start. Which is most likely the problem by the way. Thanks for pointing that out KZ. Alleyoop

I was thinking enricher also. If it runs OK after it's warm that would be a likely suspect. It could be the other things too though. Rich

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies! Yeah the scooter runs great after it is started and warmed up. Doesn't want to quit when i come to a stop. Its just that first start of the day! It also smokes when it is first started(white smoke) like I am getting some oil blow-by somewhere in the engine. I dont think this would be typical, since this is a 4 stroke!
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dan

Oil smoke is blue. White smoke can be simply moisture in the system, my car smokes white when cold. To find out if your enrichener is malfunctioning find the inlet to the air filter box, cover 1/2 with duct tape and try to start it. If it works better it's your enrichener.

I was under the impression that white smoke means the engine is running very lean. I know about the exhaust being white when it's cold, but I have no idea where he lives.

Scooterfan 70 Hi I have the same scoot , its the fuel evaporating out of the carb bowl , it will do it hot if ya let it sit a few hours it will do it cold if it sits a day or so. all ya can do is crank and putt at 10 second intervals, do not overtax your starter motor! it will run when the carb bowl fills up , An electric fuel pump would solve the problem as it will fill the carb bowl as soon as the key is turned on , I havent done the pump conversion yet , but gaurandarntee ya thats what it is
