Went into hospital Sunday afternoon I have had a stroke before and was experiencing tingling on face, arm fingers and leg
Had CAT scan it showed more than one old stroke I only had symptoms of 1 in 2004.
Had an MRI that night. Was told Monday the MRI confirmed more than 1 stroke.
Monday had Echo on heart and carotid arteries all showed clear. Then I had an EEG Monday afternoon.
The EEG lasted 90 minutes from first led being attached till the last one was off. Results were normal.

Had a TEE test Wednesday morning it showed a hole in the heart.

My doc told me last night as he was letting me out that I've had more than 8 strokes. MRI showed 8+ old areas nothing recent. He put me on Coumadin. He said once the hole was closed he would take me off it.
I am being sent to Dr. William W. O Neill at University of Miami Hospital to see about closing the hole. The cardiologist said you don't want a rookie playing around with your heart. He said O'Neill has had a lot of experience doing these.

My GP is a fantastic doctor. He would not let me out without finding what had caused the strokes. The neurologist said I could go home GP said no I want a cardiologist to talk to you and have a TEE done. We need to find out where they came from. He talked to me last night and gave me instructions then went to complete the release papers. I was out of my room when he came back and he talked to my wife told her he has had 4 people with holes in their hearts who have had problems in the past few months.

did you feel anything or notice anytghing , lack of eye hand , forgetfullness ?

Ger , I will say this , I don't care what the others will say or think . Do what brings you pleasure , weather it going to a go go bar , riding your trike . don't let anything stop you even if you have to crawl to get there useing your last breath . life is too short .

I plan to. I could not ride because I was in the hospital

I had tingling on face and left arm and leg down to the toes.

go make sure it starts , and take it to the next doctora appointment !!! show him the trike and tell him you have plans for much more rideing !!!!

I'll be 70 one month from today.
My record so far
July 2004 stroke hospitalized 3 days then back to work
July 2005 seizure hospitalized 7 days 3 vertebrae fractured discovered 3 months later after complaining about pain for 3 months.
Dec 2005 seizure hospitalized 5 days
October 2010 prostate removed cancerous hospitalized 7 days
This week went in Sunday released last night.

Fun getting old.

My GP feels the hole in heart has caused all the strokes.

for some many years doctors ahve been treating sysptoms not curing . is what they want is it treatment or is it a cure ?

omg bud, i prey a quick and speedy recovery back to 100% health! thank god that your still able to function enough to comprehend and type. a girlfriend i had when i was young, her father had a stroke and he lost his motor control, speech, and he was paralyzed from his upper chest down.

Ger....Hang in there buddy. Most do not know but I have had 5 hart attachs and 2 strokes, I have been only out of the hospital for 2 weeks now from the last stroke. Thing get better but you have to take it easy. I have other problems that keep me off my feet, can't stand much or walk much but after this last stroke and the help of the man above my pain level is far less than it has been in years and I can speak and find words much better. I started riding the trike here in the retirement park and local 3 days out of the hospital. Now I am back on the HOnda and yesterday went 34 miles each way to the VA Hospital to see the doctors....

We are no longer super and have to understand our bodies when we were younger and just have to accept that. Wikth that said.....What I do everyday is what I want and feel like doing,
Al has talked to me in the past few days and can tell you I sound much better than the past year or so. If you lay and stay down more than a couple days...Well me any ways, I would nerver be able to walk again.

Holy Smokes!! man you have been through some rough times. You need some good karma for a change, wishing the best for you Ger and hope your up and about soon.
