From what I've heard PennDOT is really hostile towards scooters for some reason. Here in 'Bama they're more concerned with getting the funny name on the MCO spelled correctly in the computer. They always give me a weird look and I just shrug my shoulders and say "Chinese". The big thing with our DOT is you have to have a legible, authentic VIN on the frame or you can forget it. Rich

Penn Dot has been picky about scooters since the big boom in 2008. Their data base was all screwed up and they had problems with the number of "brands" on the market. My 2008 United Motors is a Hyosung but they had problems and titled it as a "Special Construction" rather than a UM. There was no problem with my old 2006 UM 150 Matrix. I thought the problems was corrected.

Just what I needed to read. Going back to the state we moved from and getting my Wildfire that is in storage. I currently have a Va. title and the bike has been tagged insured and inspected there as a motorcycle although it is a 49 CC. Ill bet this is going to be a real thrill, then again since it is a wildfire, was titled and tagged elsewhere, it might be a piece of cake.

I went with 2 mco's in one visit to NYS DMV , I followed all the paperwork as if the MCO's were titles insurance cards regerstration forms sales tax form . I was very concerned with the MCO's . Once the girl and her superviser figured out that the scooters get classified as motorcycle . Everything went smooth she handed me the plates for both , I then said to her , I thought I may have walked out of here today without registration . a few weeks later I got titles for both in the same envlope . I would do it again . I think its more the DMV office /people that make problems for registration . if all your papers are in order you should breeze through . I would do it again without hesatation .

NYS DMV isn't PennDot. You're right though. I've had dealings with both and the person in the office makes all the difference.
