gy6 50cc stock engine with scrappy dog exhaust. i installed this 23mm cvk pumper carb. i also installed an air filter. it idles but soon as i give it throttle it dies out with the after market air filter and the regular stock air box. there is a long hose (not drain or fuel line). i dont know what is for. it seems to suck a vacuum. what am i doing wrong. thanks for any help

A pic of the hose in question would help. Usually when it bogs with throttle there is too little vacuum and the needle won't raise. The lack of vacuum could be from too much air flow from the filter or a vacuum leak. Rich

this is a pic i found on another forum. they labeled the hoses. i dont know if they are correct but that is the carb and the extra hose comes from the bottom just like the pic. i think it pulls a vacuum Attachments:

I fit a bigger carb to my 50 and had the same problem, long story short the stock carb went back on and the other in the parts pile.
Shouldn't your 50 have something closer to 16-19mm carb? The problem with a bigger carb is the small bore can't create the suction needed or you have to fiddle with it and adjust and re-jet it, a bigger carb. i doubt, would make it go faster.
Not trying to sound mean or any thing. if a 23 is the right size, you might double check that there are no intake leaks.

Big carbs do NOTHING but reduce performance unless you have a BBK and a free flow exhaust.. put the stock carb back on...you will be messing with it all summer...
