I saw Smorkle's post below. Here's a couple other hazards that I found yesterday. This also posted over on Scooter Prof.
Yesterday was nice and sunny and a bit cool. I needed to run into town and go to the library. At 10 AM it was 55 degrees so I decided to ride the scoot. I put the pony express bags on the scoot and loaded up. I decided to take the back road due to the pipeline construction on the main road.
The other day, I was coming back from the dentist up near the construction site. I saw this person running toward the road and it looked like she wasn't going to stop and I'd hit her. I managed to brake down and so did she. When I was past, I looked in the mirror and saw her run into a porta-potty. I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go.
Anyhow, I'm ripping down the back road at about 40 mph yesterday and come into a little dip and blind curve. There's a turkey vulture in the road. He takes off and just as I get to where he was, his buddy takes off out of the bushes. All of a sudden, I'm looking at a bird with a 6 foot wingspan a couple feet in front of the windshield. We missed each other, thank the Good Lord, but talk about a cardiac check.
I made it to town without further incident.
When I was coming home, I came up on one of the local farms. All of a sudden, a herd of free-range chickens runs into the road and panics when they see me and are running around in circles flapping wings. Missed them too. Note - I DID have chicken for dinner.
Ride safe friends!

Rural areas have many hidden dangers.I was having a nice ride one day and went to take a nice curve and from nowhere about 20 cows ran across the road i stopped just in time. The farmer that was movin g them said he was so sorry he didn't see or hear anything coming.I think that impact would have done me in..
