i have 26 ac volts at stator yellow wires at idle and about 85 to90 ac volts at 5000 rpm . with everything diconnected except regulator if i take the red wire out of the regulator side of the coupler and pluged couple in then put volt meter on the red wire and green to ground of the tester shouldnt i get about 13 or 14 dc volts? i get only like 6 Help Plz thanks ron

Those are good voltages on the yellow wires. Yes, you should be getting a charging voltage around 14v DC. It sounds to me like you have a bad regulator/rectifier. Rich

has a new regulator on it now is there a way to check the regulator

Checking the stator and then the charging rate is the test for a R/R. See if you have a diode next to your R/R:
It may not look exactly like that, it could look like a GY6 rectifier, but it will only have two wires. If you do have one unplug it and run the diode test with your multi:

im going to put a relay in insted of the diode, need to know why i only have 6 volts coming right out of the regulator ,red wire reg side,with the red wire out of the coupler and coupler pluged in has a new regulator regulator on it

Well Ron, kind you give us a little history on the problem? I assume the battery isn't charging. Did it just start suddenly out of the blue or was it after a part was replaced or what? Sometimes it helps to know how the problem developed. Rich
