While I'm waiting for the parts to modify my air box,,,What is the purpose of the small box on the side of the air box with the 2-3 hoses on it. The hoses go to the PCV valve, valve cover and to the air box to carb juction. Is it a Vacuum connection point ?. All that is in the goofy thing is a small piece of foam rubber (filter) ?. I'm assuming the vacuum is created at the intake of the Carb (air side) ?. Thanks....

Look closely at the hose that goes to the valve cover, if it plugs into a small box that has another pipe that runs to the exhaust side of the head, it is a PAIR system. Pulsed Air Injection Reburn if I remember correctly. If it's not that, it's probably gas tank vapor recovery. But I must say, that is the most bizarre air system I could even conceptualize in my wildest dreams. Oot probably knows what it is. If it is PAIR and you want more info let me know. Rich

Thanks for the reply Rich. Nope, not a P.A.I.R. system evidently. only one hose to the head area and that is to the valve cover. I'm going to start on this with the hoses hooked up as they are now,, less the air box. Different air filter and a vacuum fitting on the air filter to carb hose adapter(originally it was on the air box to carb). Re jet and see what happens. Probably a lot of re jet and carb adjusting.. I ordered my parts from Scrappy Dog. Good price and fast shipping !!

That tube that runs from the valve cover to the air filter is oil fume/blowby tube - goes to the little side box on air filter box and then drains down into a clear plastic tube, which should be periodically drained. If you are attaching a Uni or simpler air filter and removing the air box, some folks run that valve cover/head breather tube into a can to catch the blowby gunk - there should be room for one with that big ol' airbox outa the way.
