Since I have had no luck finding a air cooled engine for my scoot I noticed it looks almost the same as the cf moto water cooled.
Any thoughts or experiences with converting to that style of engine?

What scoot do you have and what size engine, also long case or short case. I am sure we can find the right motor for your scoot. Alleyoop

Have you checked out MBE Motosports? They carry about everything and you can contact them about what you want. Sprocket has dealt with them many times and likes them. I have a Pegasus with the CF Moto 150cc water cooled engine. It may look similar but it is not even close to a GY6. It's not the "B" engine like some people have said, it's an entity unto itself. Unless you're a good fabricator, don't expect to get a CF 150 into a GY6 frame. Rich

Thanks for the input. That was kind of what I was afraid of. I tried MBE but just like every other place they are out of stock. I can't even find a used engine

Well, you're right, by my Google searches it appears that the 16" wheel version of the GY6 has gone the way of the dinosaurs. I'm stunned, they were just selling these not too long ago. Is your engine code BN157QMJ? That was usually the case with this engine. I wrote MBE and asked if they had any of the "B"'s back in the warehouse or anything that would work for the 16" wheeel. Also, I'll measure my CF engine and my GY6 Bashan tomorrow and see how close they are. You might be able to get a bracket made, I don't know, I'll just have to see. Rich

If I could get one and mount it I don't think rewiring would take much and I know I can get a radiator and hose pretty cheap. Thanks for the help

The problem is the BN engine is wider and it also has a second gear box on the rear...I'm surprised they aren't available because they sold them last summer...Pegasus etc..
I have no idea about the watercooled...I know on my Lifan there is a 250 cc watercooled version that fits the same frame...
Didn't CFMoto use a water-cooled 150?

It doesn't say bn anywhere on the engine code. But it does say 157qmj-III.

I have the water cooled CF Moto 150cc in my Pegasus and it does look like the picture you posted above. This is not the B engine that is associated with the 16" GY6 scooters as some people think. My Pegasus does have 16" wheels but the engine is not a GY6, I'm not sure what to call it, probably just the CF Moto 150 would be accurate. Here's the engine code that is stamped on the rear of the case:
You'll notice the Q is missing from the code which is generally accepted to denote the GY6 engine. Here's some measurements on my CF engine:
The 190mm is from the outside of one engine ear to the other. My long case GY6 was 165mm,. The ear itself was 27mm while the GY6 was 20. The 320 was to the width of the motor mount while the GY6 was surprisingly wider at 350.
GY6 length is about 600mm. Here's a couple more photos of the engine to give you an idea of what it looks like. One example of how different this engine is, the spark plug is on the left side:
Here's a link to a Photobucket album with a lot of pictures of my Pegasus. The CF engine is much beefier and quite a but bigger than a GY6, I think you'd have a hard time getting it in a GY6 frame. Rich
