Hi All, This is my first post here and I have a question. First off I would like to say I have gotten a lot of help just from reading the boards. I have a 2007 150cc retro Road Runner I scooter with 1p57qmj engine. Her name is Geraldine lol. I bought her used from cl and even after the minor work I put into her she was still a good deal ($350). I had to re-jet her ( she had a 103 and would only go 35) so I put a 110 in her, which fixed that. I adjust the valves and cleaned out the carb. I put on a high flow filter cause my air box was thrashed and removed the egr system. Ok now for the current problem. For awhile now my turn signals and brake light have only been working intermittently. Now they have gone out completely(headlight and horn still work). I traced it to what I thought was the issue( partially melted wire behind the plug under the plastic over the muffler) I fixed that and still no lights. I would greatly appreciate in help thanks. Ram

welcome to the forum . you need to check your grounds clean them up . Remove the turn signal switch , spray bath it with WD40 and work the switch on off left right about a hundred times . spray it with the keyboard duster wipe it clean and dry . see if that fixes it .

Usually the brake light and turn signals are off of a DC circuit that comes on with the ignition switch. So is the horn so that shows juice is getting to the circuit. That makes me suspect the connector for the rear light cluster. Check that and the ground as John suggested. Here's a tutorial for diagnosing turn signal problems and checking continuity in circuits. Update, I cleaned my Grounds and checked the the connection for the brake light assembly , which looked fine. So I inspected the flasher relay. The relay is thrashed it is missing it's back cover and is all corroded. My question is can that affect the brake light? I know they share at least part of the same circuit( according to the schematic) Ram

When you turn on your ignition switch it sends energy to the relay and brake light circuit via different wires. When you turn on the turn signal it closes a circuit and the relay starts to flash. When you pull in the brake handle it lights the brake light and sends energy to the starter button. The relay could be missing and the brake light should still work. But since they have a common source you may find the problem by tracing them back towards the ignition black wire. Rich

Update. OK I figure out the brake light it turned out to be the fuse. Now the turn signals turned out to be the ignition. I found this out the hard way when it went poof. the engine wouldn't shut off with the key.( had to remove spark plug wire to kill her and disconnected the batt for good measure.) I took the key out of the ignition and the left side of the key was scorched. I have to wait till next week to order the lock set to fix her though.

We could easily hardwire that if you want to pull the plastic off enough to expose the wires connecting to the ignition switch. Put a 20A switch between the red and black wires and a push button between the W/B and ground for the kill. You flip the 20A and hit the start button. When you want to shut it off turn the 20A off and hit the kill button. Security might be a problem though. Rich

When you say security do you mean the alarm? Not worried about the alarm but I do see your point on being able to hop on and go when I. Am not at home

I mean without an ignition switch and key. However, I ran my Bashan like that for a year and nobody touched it. I guess it depends on where you live and if they could figure out the sequence to start it. I had a kill toggle switch under the seat which they would have had to find before they could do anything.....then the red to black power switch. Rich

John good info, john, however a dielectric grease after the wd 40 is better. also "PB Blaster" is i think a better penetrating oil. i have been told wd is good but one must oil after things are unstuck etc. to help remove the corrosive in the wd40 joe Attachments:
