No not lean, that is build up of crap, either the gas additives on the brand you use or you have oil seeping to the combustion chamber. Could be your valve guides, but first try a different brand of gas. Alleyoop

Yeah, Alley's right. This is from one of our "How to read Spark plugs" tutorials in the library:
Deposits: The accumulation of deposits on the firing end is influenced by oil leakage, fuel quality and the engine's operating duration.

If your plug is that bad, I can't imagine what the valves look like. I have seen that in engines running ethanol blends...

I don't know what they run here but when I ran an iridium plug it never looked like that.

So what are you going to do? It is not going to go away unless you try and or check something. Alleyoop

Right now I have no spark...I had it earlier....I changed 3 cdis that I know are good and the spark plug coil. I think the stator is bad. As for the spark plug issue I'm going to run a new one for a week and the pull it to see what it looks like. I'm planning a small upgrade in the next few weeks and if I can wait until then to open up the engine I will have more time. I will just have to ride one of the others if the new stator don't fix it tomorrow.

i found the problem and the source of the oil causing my plug to get fouled. The stator was covered in oil because the was a bolt in the top right part of the case that was hanging loose. It is stripped so i added some loctite and its not staying in its place. When i do my upgrades in a few weeks i will have to replace the middle case piece. Im just happy i can just run down the street and pick up my parts..no mail order for me.

You found a differnt problem..the plug and the case leak aren't related... check the pickup coil...likely the spark issue...

you are probably right sprocket but no one here sells just the pickup coil..easier to replace the whole thing...$25 to replace it
