So i have a new 180 CC AIR COOLED put on my bike.

guy says it took 6 hours.----$300,00

any way when i go wot it starts to die, at about the last 10 percent of throttle. and it bucks a little, then picks up again like a gas flow problem

OR SOMETHING.

I have new scrappy coil and plug wire

I have new ngk plug that i did not gap,,,,used as is

it sounds fine, but seems just a tad slower for the rpms i am used to seeing

I am using old carb, seafoam heavy

PLEASE HELP

Is the carb a 24mm, if so you need to upjet it I am running 182cc and got a 122.5 main jet with a K&N filter runs like a bear. A 125 is to much it was popping on me.

this carb ran fine and smooth on my last factory 62 mm.

this engine doe not have 200 miles on it yet.

So whats jets are in it?
To find out if its LEAN or RICH Do the following:
Run it at WOT when it starts to act up BACKOFF THE THROTTLE at little about 1/4 of a inch AND HOLD IT THERE.
a. If it speeds up your Lean
b. If it sputters, hesitate and then settles down your RICH.
At least that will tell you which way to go with the fuel delivery.

I have done a very good job getting af balanced for a new cranky engine.

The problem occurs at 90 percent of throttle.

it bucks/slows/revs up again.

feels awful

could this be CDI or bad coil or bad plug or just brand new engine

last new engine did none of this, but was a cranky beast for 500 miles

I am using factory air intake and i believe a 24 or 25 jet

I am telling you its your FUEL, CDIs do not play with up and down rpms they either work or not. I don't care what you last engine did, this is a different motor all motors do not run the same. Some have more or less compression than an identical motor.

Just do the test I said to do that will tell what it needs MORE FUEL OR LESS FUEL.

I have done your mentioned test

at 90 percent throttle it just gos normal again, no farts or speed up, but that does not mean you are not on to something

plug is black brown rich, i put new one in just to watch burn

A black plug is definitely too rich. Also, I had a bad coil do exactly what you're describing. It would run OK up to higher throttle settings and then start cutting out and surging. Forget the coil ohms tests, just swap out a new one and see what happens. It's always good to have a spare. Rich

Remember temp and humidity plays a part. Also inconsistances in castings lay a part as well. With 200 miles on a new engine, its has not loosened up yet. You have not stated anything about checking valves.

yes Mr Bashan i thought it might be new coil, just FYI Everybody, a coil can act up and not be broke, if we look closely at the wire as it enters the coil round house, that wire "screws in" there is a hook screw that catches the wire and makes contact clock ways, loosens counter clock ways.

it is a good thing to check this very gently for snug on new or old coils.
as "Flash" currents create a lot of oxidizing and thus inhibit conductivity

it would not be too much to say even spray it out once in a while with carb cleaner or something more gentle to plastics

As many have noted, the xingyue engine runs very rich by design,,, bad gas mileage, but many more travel miles from the coolness that occurs when gas evaps instead of burning and absorbs heat then exits out exhaust just like a air conditioner cooling evap coil.


the BMS record is a garaged 150 cc bike with 17,000 miles on original engine, which they love to talk about, they say the owner never go's more then 35 --40 mph

tvnacman, very good point about air quality, I may be wrong, but i feel these gy 6's love 55 degrees and 60 percent humidity.

besides displacing oxygen, high humidity can make some types of filter clothe swell a little too, and decrease CFMS (available air volume) which may make bike run better or worse depending on its needs.

WELL FOLKS I SPOKE TOO SOON

After the AF adjust it did run better sort of,

but knowing bashan's idea could not hurt, And that i had just put a brand new coil and spark wire on this new engine,, I went and put in old coil, took new wire and plug off the new one and installed on old coil and got a much much much smoother idle even my girl heard.

but getting up to wot, it started to die and pick up again,

but not real bad like before

I had adjusted af screw and idle for this replaced coil too.

the new coil from scrappy did have some issues for sure
