I read Big Guy's Tuning for Performance and he mentions to get a Performance Kit, Exhaust, Carb, Filter etc.. There are no such kits, the parts are all individual items and you personally have to know what you think will work or not work. And I can see why, NOBODY and I Mean NOBODY knows what combination will work or not work as a kit. It is usually trial and error.
A simple example is your main jet. If you put in a bigger main jet you may have now effected the Mid-Range. Why you may ask, well the needle blocks part of the Main Jet and as the needle goes up more gas is being let in past the needle. Now that the Jet has a bigger hole more gas is being let in at mid-range as well. So now to compensate for that you now have to Adjust your needle and lower it to block the extra fuel at mid-range. Some say to buy a Needle with different taper and mid-range thickness but it all depends on how big of a Main Jet you have installed. If its not to big you may get away with just lowering the needle.
Now many will tell you this will work and you will gain this and that. But they only know what a customer has told them and sometimes what they say is a little overblown or as we say they tell a Little White Lie. And from all the threads I have read across the forums a lot of people seem to mostly fib about their Top Speeds. I don't know why but if it only does 35,40,50,60 or whatever just say so. There may be riders that maybe can help you get a little more out of it through their experience.
A good example of fibbing about their top speeds was a guy with the same Trike I have and he was claiming 65 U.S MPH STOCK!! He mentioned a couple mods he said he did which would not even gain him 1mph more. I questioned his claim and asked him to put up pictures of his Mods. Heck, if he found something that would gain that many mph I wanted to know.
Now mind you by this time I already had the almost 3 1/2" Taller Tires on my Trike compared to the OEM Tires it came with. Plus Racing Prodigy Variator, Slider weights, Performance CDI, Coil and Iridium Plug. Well all he did was take a picture of his Trike which was a PST150H just like mine. I asked for the pictures of his mods many times and his excuse was he doesn't live in his garage. Well that was the last he posted he went away never to be heard from again.
But Rich is correct Tuning for Performance is NOT an easy task and you can wind up with a less performing scoot than you started off with. You may also create more headaches for yourself and the scoot will not be dependable. If your mods do not involve engine mods I think you can have a nice running scoot and not have to spend a lot of money to get a little more out of it. I personnally went with the Taller Tires and CVT Tuning instead of going into the engine for more top speed. Alleyoop

Yeah and then there's Steve at Monster GY6: www.monstergy6.com/product_monster_packs.htmHowever, I must heartily agree with AO, you could put one of those upgrade kits on and find it falls on it's face at a certain speed, or idles like crap, ad infinitum. It is all trial and error and a pain in the buttocks. The people that sell the stuff make it sound so easy: put in the jet, run for ten minutes, look at the plug, adjust needle or jet accordingly. Well that would be great if you just had to turn a dial, but you have to go rooting around in the engine bay from hell again! The Big Guy is right, they come from the factory tuned to do a certain job and it's a delicate balance, tweaking it can cause big headaches as I've experienced first hand. Alleyoop, you are right on about the BS factor, people just blah blah blah and not just about their scooter. Rich

I have 16,000 miles on my MZ RX 50cc. My speed on the top was down to 35mph on the flat. I changed the drive belt, roller weights and variator drive face. Now I get 42MPH from it. I forgot to mention that the rear tire was 8 pounds low on air which I filled to proper 32 pounds. A low tire changes everything about your scoot so check them often. I am going to use lighter rollers and a pro exhaust. I will let the group know what the results are.
