i have seen several good cdi posts what i am not sure of is the 2 pole plug on a q link i am working on. it appears to keep blowing cdi units. it is a ac cdi i believe. my parts guy says,,, cdi unplugged,,, if i get voltage to my cdi plugs with the key on, then it is a dc cdi that is needed. so an ac cdi will have no voltage to the cdi w/key on unless the engine is turning over. is it supposed to have voltage going to the black wire of the two pole plug? it connects to indicator lights in the dash and the horn's black wire and the other wire goes to a sensor coil at the back variator is the stator trashed? wiring diagrams show one wire of the 2 pole plug to ground what am i missing? thanks in advance,, joe Attachments:

Normally a DC CDI has only one WIRE going to the 2 PLUG connector. Take Your Volt Meter or a TEST LIGHT and if the TEST LIGHT LIGHTS UP it is a DC CDI and or if the Volt Meter Reads 12V. An AC CDI will NOT HAVE JUICE on the TWO PLUG SIDE of the CDI UNTIL the motor is cranked over A AC CDI is FED by the STATOR. Alleyoop

the black wire into/out of the 2 pole plug of the cdi has voltage/power to it with the engine not running and key on kill, switch to "run". this is a bad thing? do i need to find a crossed wire or defective unit connected to the black wire circuit?
thanks allyoop for the guidance.

No it is not a bad thing that is the way it is supposed to work with a DC CDI. ALL that means is your scoot is DC POWERED and you better have a DC CDI. If you have an AC CDI on it, it most likely will burn it up.
When you turn on the KEY and the KILLSWITCH is on the RUN position it sends the Voltage to the DC CDI so the scoot can Then send juice to the COIL. Alleyoop
