Hello, I am an ASE Master Technician who has had the unfortunate situation of encountering one of these scooters, and I need help! This scooter lost the headlights, and potentially more. I was working off of the wiring schematic and can not find the diode coming off of the manostat (red wire). I have traced everything I could find on the schematic and have not discovered the problem(s) as of yet. I read through a number of older posts and still have not found the answer, though I will be soldering the connector to the rear lights. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Kirk.

I forgot to mention that I found 2 20A fuses, and both the fuses and connectors electrically check out ok.

Welcome to the forum, kbonanny. Not all of the 250cc scoots have the diode. There is no fault with the diode that would cause the headlights not to work. If you have a switch for the lights on the handlebars, then you most likely do not have a diode. I would start at the light switch to see if it is OK. Scoots and water do not mix and if has been out in the rain or wet washed a lot, the contacts on the switch or switches could be corroded. Here's what the blocking diode, regulator/rectifier and CDI look like on a YY250T: Here's a wiring diagram which might be closer to your scoot if there is no diode: www.jclusa.com/Document_Support/Products_Support/MP250A/MP250A_wiring_diagrams.pdfIs everything else working electrically?

As an ASE technician I'm sure you're used to having diagrams make sense when you're working on things. Unfortunately you can forget that with Chinese scooters. The diagrams you get, if you get one at all, often don't match your bike. You've got to use what diagrams you can find with a grain of salt. By the way, my Fashion has the same engine as Cruiser's bike but I don't have a diode, I do have a light switch.

Thanks, I thought I was losing my mind! This does have the light switch, but the only power to it is on the "flash" (high beam flash) button, so it has lost power somewhere. Any pointers on likely locations??? Thanks for the help! Kirk!
