Do You have the right WIRES going to the CDI? Because those colors do match what goes to the CDI. Alleyoop

are you talking about the bullet connectors from the stator and you look to have good spark double check the valve gaps they may be to thight and prime the carb bowl by sucking on the vac line to the petcock until you see gas come through the filter

Thanks guys. Gonna try those things this a.m. I did check to make sure I had fuel in the clear filter and if I had gas going into the carb and they both seemed fine. That is a 30 mm CBS carb and I am going to go back to the stock carb to see if that has any effect on this issue as we'll. I am very close and yet so far away. Once again Thanks guys for all of your help.

Hey Bud, were you able to find the Screw for the Tensioner at a local hardware store and did that help the blowing out of the tensioner. Alleyoop

I sure did Alley!! I actually got it running today but now I have another PROBLEM!!!!!! When I start the engine *SOMETIMES* there is a Clang, but the engine turns freely. At times when I turn the eninge off or it stops, there is a CLANG!! Here is a video but you have to listen very closely when the engine stops "spinning" s1244.beta.photobucket.com/user/A1WABBIT/media/IMG_0096_zpscc7ca948.mp4.html

There is definitely a loud clng and I am scared to keep pushing the engine. I took the side off and checked everything and it looked fine. The only concern that I had was the gear for the starter clutch was very loose. Even though the nut and washer are on it, the gear slid past them. That could be my issue because it only does it on start up and shut down. During engine run time the engine is flawless.

Now that you mentioned it, it probably is your starter clutch slipping when starting that is called a KICKBACK. Now that can be caused by the timeing being to advanced. I know because mind does it at start up due to the Advanced Performance CDI I have on. I can put the OEM CDI in and no Clank when starting and or stopping. I am waiting on a CDI that is supposed to only advance as the rpms climb and be retarded for starting just like in a car. When it comes and I will put it on and give the results. Alleyoop

That sounds like it Alley. I do not have the stock CDI. I am using a NCY one. What should I/can I do to remedy the problem? Or is it something I am just gonna gave to deal with. What brand CDI are you going to getting?

Another issue that I am having that I think IS tied into this problem, is when trying to initally start the engine and give it some gas, the engine drags really bad. If I do not try to introduce gas the engine turns over alright.

Yep that is it my friend the ADVANCED CDI just like mind. That is why I am going to try this one: But I am getting it from TVNACMAN a little cheaper. Give it a try put the OEM one back on and you will see NO KICKBACKS. Wait till I get mind and I will post the results good or still KICKBACKS, I will be the Science Project as they say. No, I wouldn't I have been living with the kickbacks for almost 2 years now. It just sounds nasty I know like something is going to break(HAHA). But hang in there I will let you know if that Advanceing one will kill 2 birds with one stone, (1). keep it retarded at low rpms and (2). advance the timeing as the rpms climb for more power.
