I can see it already. A ZX-10R powered Silver Wing. After the 1947 Ninja 250 powered scooter that's a logical next step.

Bill Murar is closing motorcycle entries as of April 15th. MSILSF is closing scooter entries as of Midnight, March 31st. NO LATE ENTRIES PLEASE. The website's on-line entry page will be shut down. This race has been posted for a very long time. If you're thinking about entering, but aren't 100% positive you can make it, please enter before the entry site goes off-line. I'm going to be racing this event, and may even be riding to New York, in which case I'll be in the wind sometime during the third week of April.

Only one rule, "there are no rules". I got to hurry, since I like real motor scooters AKA true step thru's and air cooled I got to locate a boxer such as a 1600cc vw engine for mine! with such a low slung engine you could probably stick a 10 gal tank under the seat. Maybe a one speed trans too since you have a bit of extra power. It might be a tad slow on take off but once rolling will leave the rest behind. or a snow mobile cvt?

Racer,
Great news! An extremely generous anonymous donor has donated One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) prize money to be split amongst the First Place Motor-Scooter Winners in each of the five classes:
Class I: (50cc to 100cc) Class II: (101cc to 175cc) Class III: (176cc to 300cc) Class IV: (301cc to 650cc) Class V: (651cc to 850cc)
Sidecars are not eligible to participate in this prize.
It has not yet been determined whether there must be three entries to constitute a class.
This means the 1st Place Overall Winner will receive at least $200.00, quite possibly more, in addition to the $1,000,00 prize money posted by MSILSF Executive Vice-President Lew Laurito.
Please remember that entries close March 30th at Midnight, after which entries will not be accepted, period! Please attend to this now if you want to race. You may enter at www.motorscooterlandspeedfederation.org/, or at www.meetup.com/Beach-Cities-Scooter-Club/events/55416082/.
Thank you very much for your continuing enthuisiasm and competitive spirit.
Regards,
AlanAttachments:

2800 miles (and that's if you stay on the interstate) for maybe $200..sounds like a killer deal.

Yep. $200 bucks for winning a class -- plus $1,000 for finishing 1st overall. A lousy $1,200 -- and a couple of trophies. Probably better to run the "other" event, take your time crossing, sleep in a warm bed in your jammies every night, receive nothing regardless where you finish and, best of all, pretend you're racing. Whatever spins your crank.

MSILSF Vice-President, Capt. Lew Laurito, has once again opened his wallet and posted an additional US$500.00 prize money to be awarded to the winner of Class II (101cc to 175cc). This brings the total prize money to US$2,500.00!Attachments:

The revised entry list is attached for your perusal. Brock had seven "teams" finish in 1971. I attribute the modest number of entries to our "one rider/one scooter" Rule. It probably gave a lot of wanna-bees a harsh reality check about their skill set and the level of preparedness required for our event. Please Note: The Real Cannonball, sanctioned by Motor-Scooter International Land-Speed Federation, is not affiliated with www.scootercannonball.com, an 8-day timed/scored rally in which " articipation is limited to scooters with an engine displacement not more than 250cc" held in even numbered years.
