Hello All, I have a 50cc, 2012 Renegade. It has less than 30 miles on it. Since I've had this scooter it has given me problems. First off, it would start but would not stay running. The valves were adjusted to .003. It ran good for a little while, now I am having the same problem. Wondering if setting the valves at .002 would be better? Oh, I should mention, it instantly cuts off if we try to use the throttle. We also checked for spark and that was fine. Just wondering maybe it is running to lean? The spark plug was very dark when we checked it. Maybe it is a carb problem? Fuel is getting into the fuel filter. Any suggestions? Thanks PS I still have not had time to work on the other two scooters I had problems with, not ignoring you guys, just finally getting the time to work on these darn scoots. Thanks

.003 on the valves is good, it is a fuel problem. Have to have a little more detail on how it acts. 1. Does it start up and idle and run past 5 minutes? 2. Does your carb have the Fuel Ratio Screw or is it PLUGGED? 3. When you say fuel is in the Air FILTER, after you clean it out at what point does it get a lot of gas again. A. It could be the fuel inlet is NOT being shut off by the float. This can happen if the scoot was sitting for months with gas in it. B. It could be that the Petcock is not shutting off and or allowing fuel to flow through the vacuum hose. 4. Have you cleaned out the carb. Alleyoop

Hello Guys, Thanks for the responses! I believe we checked for vac leaks but we double check. I will answer each question best I can, lol! 1. Does it start up and idle and run past 5 minutes? DOES START UP NICELY, WILL NOT RUN PAST 5 MINUTES.2. Does your carb have the Fuel Ratio Screw or is it PLUGGED? THE FUEL RATIO SCREW IS PLUGGED.3. When you say fuel is in the Air FILTER, after you clean it out at what point does it get a lot of gas again. GETS GAS RIGHT AWAY (I MEANT TO SAY FUEL FILTER)A. It could be the fuel inlet is NOT being shut off by the float. This can happen if the scoot was sitting for months with gas in it. IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A FEW MONTHSB. It could be that the Petcock is not shutting off and or allowing fuel to flow through the vacuum hose. 4. Have you cleaned out the carb. HAVE NOT CLEANED THE CARB YET, THOUGHT WE'D CHECK OUT EVERYTHING ELSE FIRST. Thanks so much for the help guys, looking forward to hearing from you. Ok everything is peachy keen, and the answers point to #1, will not stay running past 5 minutes. Which means it will run because the ENRICHER is working and is feeding fuel to the motor. The ENRICHER CUTS off the fuel within a 5 minute time frame. So that means your PILOT JET in the carb is either CLOGGED and or ITS PASSAGE. And since your Fuel Ratio Screw is PLUGGED you have two options: 1. Drill the plug out and hope the screw is behind it so you can adjust since it is running LEAN. 2. Get an Aftermarket carb just like yours but with the FUEL RATIO screw NOT PLUGGED UP. Now since it was running before Try this, take the AIR FILTER TUBEING off the CARB and cover it with your fingers letting in SOME AIR and see if it stays running after the 5 minutes. But I really think you will have to take the carb off and clean out the PILOT JET and ITS PASSAGE. Now when you take the carb off the PILOT JET feeds fuel through some VERY TINEY HOLES by the BUTTERFLY so the passage and or TINY OULETS may be clogged. When you clean the PILOT JET make sure you can see daylight through it then work on the passage without the PILOT JET screwed back in. Alleyoop HERE IS THE PLUG IF YOU DRILL IT OUT: HERE IS WHERE IT JET IS you need to clear out the PILOT JET AND PASSAGE: HERE ARE THE TINEY PILOT JET OUTLETS WHEN CLEANING MAKE SURE SPRAY COMES OUT OF THEM, you can also use a NEEDLE or very thin wire to poke the holes to clear them.

Always us a good FUEL FILTER, a good one will trap very tiney particles that can clog your pilot jet and passage. I use VISU filters this one specifically and have YET to have a clogged jet I have NEVER cleaned my carb in over 3 years, just adjust for temp changes. When you see it getting black usually pieces from the inside of the hose, either replace it or CLEAN it out. Since the particles are trapped on the outside of the filter you can blow the stuff out from the other side. Alleyoop
