AcK. Well, found the last bolt I had missed and removed it. Exposed the stator/etc and I ***think*** the idler was loose. I pushed it back in place but I need to get some oil and I boogered up the gasket and I need to replace that, too. Can I use some gasket-in-a-tube or do I need to order a paper gasket?
Thanks, D

The IDLER will be be loose once you take off the Side cover. The side cover holds the IDLER in and in a straight position, It just pulls. You have to take the STARTER CLUTCH OFF and with your hands you should be able to turn it only one way if it turns both ways it is not grabbing to turn the crankshaft to move the piston up and down for starting.
Take the IDLER out and check the gears and make sure they do not turn freely on the shaft. Also on some the gears can come out they may have moved on the shaft. Alleyoop
