Hi Alleyoop, scooter still not acting right, today it was bogging just starting out, (using my throttle) I t will just shut off like it ran out of gas, just changed gas filter, I may redo valve adjustment, would a dirty oiled filled filter do that? I soaked it in very hot soapy water and still feels dirty.

WHAT!!! It was running good!! YOU EVER HEAR THE PHARSE " IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT" You probably disturbed the AIR amount is what I am thinking if it was running good. Now that you messed with the AIR FILTER FOAM you now have to re-adjust the mixture. If I where you I would go and get some foam and cut out a few foam pieces to match what came with the scoot so you have spares. But in either situation you probably will have to RE-Adjust the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE. The amount of air coming in really messes with the fuel ratio. Alleyoop

Some filters are meant to be soaked with oil. Both Filtron and K&N filters are treated that way. To clean them you use a solvent like carb cleaner or gasoline and wring them out, re-oil and reinstall. Water and soap are a no-no since they coat the filter. Solvents evaporate. My last Kawasaki had a K&N type setup.

Richard that 2 1/2 is a just a good starting point, IT MAY BE right on but you may need to tweak it from the 2 1/2 out. Alleyoop

I know when I adjusted the valves, I had the spocket side right on, the arrow on the other side wasn't dead on, but very close. when started it seem to be good. I'll start with the a/f ratio screw and let you know how its going and (hey I may forget, so Merry Christmas)

Best thing is just go to lowes or home depot or someplace like that and get some foam and make your own LOT CHEAPER. Alleyoop foam is too low AIR flow.
you want something that will keep a balance between air intake and gas suction from carb, which is regulated by negitive CFM s or-
Carb vacume.
Too high a flow filter, no suction for gas,,, too much vacume, too rich, this is why after market red butt filters make a guy spend weeks getting A/F right
IF EVER AT ALL
Foam also when hot morphs into a super plyable and closes in on it self, (holes will seal in a partial plyable melt) and you will spend 4 ever fiqureing that out- low speed fine--high speed conk out.
Fiberglas will not, and is easyier to cut to speck, BUT OIL IT AND CHANGE OR VACUME EVERY TWO WEEKS.
