I picked up a roketa bahama for 250 bucks it runs decent but the hose from the egr sometimes falls off and it dies and will not run without it, i want to remove it and run one hose to the manifold and do away with this. It has two hoses a plastic canister like my vip had and another hose with a metal square box it won't run without the box hooked up, i want to take both pieces off and block off the head. Does the square box and the exhaust pipe work together and can i remove this without getting a new exhaust pipe

The square box is probably a reed valve and can be removed. You should be able to remove it with all the garbage without getting a new exhaust pipe. The opening from the PAIR system is into the head, it shouldn't be hooked to the exhaust pipe.
It's actually called a PAIR system which stands for Pulsed Air Injection Reburn. There are no exhaust gases recycled through the combustion chamber. However, the terms are often used interchangeably. The PAIR works by using the negative pressure pulses just past the exhaust valve to pull fresh air in which supposedly helps burn off unspent fuel. Personally I think it's a POS and have removed it from all of my scooters. Here's the tech diagram (if you get help from me you have to wait for me to ramble on for a while ::
There's a point to all this so just bear with me. Here's a top view of the most common type with the PAIR canister that has a fresh air in tube that usually dangles somewhere at the front of the engine to confuse people.
Then the fresh air out that runs to a one way reed valve and then into the head:
Here's the system without all the clutter:
So how to remove it? The only hose that I can imagine that keeps your engine from running would be the vacuum line. So you'll want to clip the vacuum line and make sure it's sealed nice and tight. Then you'll have to remove the garbage that's attached to the head. Then you must put a plate over the exhaust port opening. You can buy them but I just make my own from some aluminum stock I get at Lowes. Use some copper Permatex and/or exhaust gasket:
There's some variations on the the design of these things. but as long as you understand how the thing works you can remove any of them. That was the point of the lecture. For instance, here's the one off of my Motorino:
It looks totally different but does exactly the same thing. Which is clutters up the engine compartment and is a festering sore waiting to cause a vacuum leak.

Are you sure you blocked the vacuum at the intake manifold or "Y" or "T" connector? are you sure your block cap is not leaking. Everyone I helped take this stuff off no problems so your missing something.
Maybe take a picture of what you did would help spot what may be the problem. Alleyoop

So you did not take it off then? You are just trying to unplug the VACUUM is that right? You need to take the whole damn thing off. and plug it up where it connects to the Head and also plug up the VACUUM at the MANIFOLD. Alleyoop

I unplugged it and stuck a bolt in the hose to block it and it wont start, plug it back in to the manifold it starts is why i thought it may be hooked to the exhaust

Take a picture of what you got, you may have a different type. Some are hooked up to the crankcase along side the head. On yours is there a Valve on the exhaust pipe? Just take a picture that will tell all instead of guessing. Alleyoop

What does the Valve or canister look like, is something from the canister or valve connected to something else? Take pictures of your canister and or valve. Also make sure your valve cover VENT is not plugged it may be plugged up and cannot vent. Alleyoop

So that picture is the VALVE is that right, Then from the valve to the canister.
I would take the valve cover off and make sure you VENT is not plugged up. I appears without it plugged in the motor is not getting any air. Alleyoop

the metal piece is connected to the canister and the canister vents to nothing the air hose that goes to manifold is connected to the metal square piece

Then like I said check the Valve Cover Vent and or Valve cover Vent hose it appears the motor is not venting and creating to much pressure.
I cannot think of anything else that would cause it not to start plugging it up and not allowing fresh air in. Maybe Rich has an idea or suggestion. Alleyoop
