Alright after working for a few hours this afternoon on this worrisome issue, I had not accomplished any progress, still no idle. I have a few theories that I am not sure will ever pan out but, 1. I thought the filter may have been dry so I re oiled that. 2. When I adjusted the valves my filler gauge only went to .08 so both the exhaust and the intake are set this way. Could this be the problem?
@alley - I took the A/F screw down to 1 turn and it was a little more responsive after that. The idle adjustment made little to no difference. I just found my charger for my handycam so tomorrow I will post a video so you can hear what I am hearing but the battery died today before I got very far.

GREAT, that means TO MUCH FUEL if it was better LEANING it out. Told you those DAMN 30CVK pump out a lot of fuel and air. You should of stuck with the 24mm those are good to little over 200ccs with just upjetting them. Alleyoop

I don't mean to discourage but on dawg about 4 years ago there was a soldier that spent over 6 months di cking with one of those carbs and finally got it right only to be shipped to Afghanistan. This fellow was very knowledgeable and tried every thing known to man. The other day I ran across some spec's on a 200cc kymco that was using a 24mm std carb. The big problem most have with a 30 is they get it right in just one rpm band and it runs like crap at all the rest of the rpm ranges. john

Gti, .008 inchs is way to wide of a gap, you need to go to the auto parts store and get a set that start at .003 -.004 .005 .006 then .008. They have them you just need to not get the wrong one because MOST will start with .008 inch feelers.
And yes that will effect every aspect of the motor the valves are not opening enough to allow the right amount of air and fuel in. Plus they will make a lot of clacktering and can possibley break the rocker due to the HARD slapping coming off the Cam LOBE. Alleyoop

Since it is a Hot motor set them to .004 inchs each. My motor is bored out to 182 I have a 62mm and a +2 stroker crank it was 149.6 now it is 182ccs. Alleyoop

Also on the carb there is a hose on the very bottom that I let vent. I believe it is the float bowl overflow outlet. Am I correct to allow this hose to vent or does this hose connect to vacuum?

Gti, If the hose your talking about is BELOW the carb bowl that is your CARB BOWL DRAIN HOSE. There are two kinds of CARBS with different DRAIN hoses. One type of Carb has the DRIAN SCREW right next to the HOSE which HANGS DOWN usually in front of the CVT pointing down to the ground. Those if you Loosen the SCREW next to it it will drain the FUEL in your Carb Bowl. The other type Carb the Drain hose is usually wrapped with wire and on the END of the HOSE is a METAL PIECE that the DRAIN SCREW screws into to drain the Carb Bowl. So it is not a VENT HOSE it is a Drain Hose for your carb bowl. Alleyoop This is 24mm carb but they all are pretty similiar. Notice the Drain hose and the Drain screw.
