I installed a 100cc big bore kit on the roketa i just got every thing went smooth with the install, but when i tried to start it the starter just drags, i even hooked the battery up to a non running car battery still dragged and got hot. It never started and the kickstart is broke, the starter doesn't seem to make the flywheel turn all the the way around. The compression isn't high its 175 and i can turn the flywheel all the around with my hand and it has moderate resistance slightly less than my tapout scoot. Do the starter motors go bad or is there a way to fix them or is there another issue. It attempted to start when i first cranked it but after that would it would lag like the battery was dead and it was being jumped by my non running car. It lagged before i put the kit on but it had way less compression stock, i thought my battery was too small.

Sounds more like the starter is the problem, if you can turn the motor over by hand. So take the starter off and test it. Now if you said you could not turn it over by hand then I would say something is binding. If it drags off the motor then you know it is bad. Alleyoop

It dragged since i got it but i thought it was the small battery the previous owner had in it, but i figured it would turn better jumped by the non running car, but it didn't. It was hard to start when it was stock the starter dragged but it would start and run fine, so it looks like i'm going to have to buy a new starter and a kickstart. Just sucks not to be able to start it after i installed the big bore kit. It turns all the around by hand no binding.

Could the starter solenoid be bad?

No the Solenoid all it does is pass the 12v to the Starter. To test it out Connect your positive from the car to the Starter Terminal and touch the Negative from your car to the motor. If it is good it will spin if not it will groan or spin slowly. Alleyoop

a bad ground will cause the starter to drag and get hot it acts like a big resistor cutting the voltage to the motor

I put in a new starter motor and it still drags even hooked to the car battery and still no start, could the battery be bad, if you jump the battery with a car battery with jumper cables if the battery in the scoot has low cranking amps, which it does would that make the starter drag. I checked all the grounds they seem good i'm kind of at a loss, it drags when you jump the solenoid also.
