Victory motorcycles, made by Polaris, have in my opinion the best looking V-twin engine of any bike out there:
The second best looking motorcycle engine is on the modern Indians:
Which are made by.....let's see....oh yeah.......Polaris! I agree KZ, I think they're onto something.

There is an Indian dealer near me, and they've even done a great stylizing job on the building itself. I like that the Victory's look a little different from everything else out there too.

As long as they are at it how about a 400/650cc motorcycle. No big cruiser,........ just a standard motorcycle a twin or a 4, I would prefer to see a USA company build and sell a few bikes that don't weigh 800 lbs. (like a few in the 300/350 lb area) As the article says spending big bucks for 50 year old technology works for select few.

Right now they're going where the money is, Big Cruisers. With all the various size engines they have in their ATVs and snowmobiles I'm sure in the next hundred years they'll get around to regular bikes. Cycle World just printed an article in their latest issue explaining how the new Generation Y is starting to get into bikes so Manufacturers are starting to build new 250, 300 and 500cc bikes. If the money is there Polaris will go after it, unlike a certain Milwaukee brand.

Harley tried years ago to patent the "Sound" (potato, potato) of their tractors but failed. A Victory is 10 times the motor of a Milwaukee paint shaker. I hardly think Harley would stand a chance trying to sue, for what? Pain and suffering caused by being upstaged by a better bike?

That law suit, didn't it involve several japs that "built a bike that sounded like a harley" but didn't shake? Oh thats what megaphones are for......to scare old ladys and dogs with your imitation harley same as the real one did.

Without getting too technical, the first Japanese V-Twins had dual pin lower ends on the crankshaft, Harley has always had one. I think it was Honda who first hung a single pin lower end on a Shadow which made a sound like a Harley. Harley, of course, tried to drag them into court for "Sound Infringement". Honda's lawyer said something to the effect, "Uh, didn't you introduce your first V-Twin a year or two after Indian? Who's sound is it." End of story.

Go Polaris! Go Harley! You don't have to hate one to love the other. I agree, nothing sounds like a Harley..I love how they sound.
